Never seen these before, absolutely tiny, the wings are no more than 1cm across. Little gems.

Great photos! Can you please tell us what camera, lens and settings these were shot with? I love the spring pictures showing up also in different forums. :)

Yep, no problem. Butterflies taken on Nikon D200 with 105mm f2.8 macro lens. ISO was at 250 I think and at f8. Also saw this male Stonechat at the same place, taken with 300mm f4 lens with 1.4 teleconverter so 420mm at f5.6. Not supersharp like the big telephotos but not too bad. Shot all these RAW, but I'm not convinced shooting jpeg would have made much if any difference!

Thats why I want a macro as my next lens. Love the idea of these uber closeup shots with such detail :)

Macro is a new skill to me, even after all these years. I can tell you that it's not an easy task, but find one of these incredibly useful. Fits Canon and Nikon top-end guns. Very versatile and easy to use. Either way, you will need flash.

Ringflash adaptor for Nikon SB800 and Canon 580EX (http://www.flaghead.co.uk/pages/ringflash-intro.html)

Thats interesting Richard, I've been thinking about ringflash, not so much for macro work, but as an alternative flash source for some work, feature/portraiture etc, just to give a different "feel" to the light - off camera flash is being done to death at the moment thanks to Pocket Wizards and IR transmitters from Canon and Nikon.

The only macro work I get to do is copying 'collect' pics on news jobs, and the trusty Canon 50mm f2.5 macro does the job there.

Always in awe of good macro pics, top pics mate :thumb:
