I need to get a tripod for a photography course that my wife has very kindly signed me up too with The Digital Dawn (www.thedigitaldawn.com)

The course is a landscape course but I will also be using it for motorsport...

As much as i REALLY want a carbon fibre one I'm a tight bastid and don't want to pay much more than £100 on the tripod and head..:D

Your challenge boys and girls is recommend me a tripod/head combination.

I've been looking at Morris Photo (www.morrisphoto.co.uk) but can't decide which one to get.

For a general purpose tripod the Manfrotto 190XPROB is pretty good.

However, very few people use tripods for motorsport - monopods are much more convenient.

That link looks very interesting, I might well try that myself :thumb:

Manfrotto is definitely the way to go if you want a decent model for the price:thumb: I've got the 055 XPROB but that might blow your budget a bit.

Heads are very personal things and you need to try before you buy. Get yourself down to the biggest camera shop you can and get your hands on them before you decide.

I love the 322RC2 Ball Grip Head, but it's not what I would use for Motorsport as it's not brilliant for panning shots, I've always used an older Sony tripod with a fluid damped video head for that sort of stuff.

As Pumpkin suggests a Monopod is ideal for motorsport and a hell of a lot easier to use. Not much use for 2 second dawn exposures up a mountain though;)
