Hi All,

Can someone suggest a half decent compact digital on the market at the moment? Ideally something reasonably slim, under £200 which I can take out of an evening and to festivals etc and not be too upset if it gets stolen or dropped in a pint.

My other thoughts are that AA batteries might be a good option rather than rechargable - if I'm at a festival living in a field for 4 days I think a rechargable is gonne be of limited use :D

Thanks

David

P.S Oh and SD card or CF would be handy too as a storage type but not essential :)

The best small compacts all seem to say IXUS on them ;)

They don't take AA's though so look at the slightly bigger Canon Powershot A series models, but bear in mind that IMHO normal Alkaline batteries don't seem to last diddly squat in those! :Whatever_

I'll leave it to you what you want to be prepared to loose

I've got a Powershot, A75 I think. Bit dated these days but it's a good little camera. Take 4 AA's, I have two sets of high capacity rechargeable AA's (Ni-MH) for it and they last for ages, usually long enough for a two week holiday / 400 shots.

I'm told normal AA batteries don't last very long but I've never used them so couldn't say for sure. However at least I have the option of using them if I mange to flatten the two sets of rechargeable batteries.
