Anyone know of / have used a good gearbox building garage in the North West? Some one familiar with Subaru 5 speed boxes, PPG uprated gear sets etc.


Not happy with the TY754 casing 5 speeder / PPG gears / Quaife front LSD that was put in last October as it whines badly in the ( helical cut/syncro )PPG gears and now "crunches" going into 1st, and into 4th on a fast change.
Not done 3000 miles on it yet!

The Quaife ATB front LSD is great!!


So looking for some place that can remove and strip box, advise on the current poor performance / issues and reasons why, and then do whats needed on what is there! With a report on the problems and remedies required, for use in a court claim.
Reasonably price would help too as this will be the third go at getting it right, hence going elsewhere than Rally Colin / Thames Valley Motorsport who were commissioned to assemble and install the uprated box as a once and for all install, and then claiming costs back through the courts.
Don't wanna have to buy another expensive gearset!

If no one near then I'll go to Zen, they know what they are doing ( and would have done the work last year but they were very busy and I needed it done quite quickly! I'll leanr .... )

could try DP motorsport in warrington. Dont think they do boxes but they do engines, so they can probably point you in the way of a specialist

 

Give John Clayton at J C Motor Services (01633 734917) a call - he doesn't do rebuilds himself, but he knows a man who does (i'm going to need mine rebuilt shortly and I'd trust what John says). Somewhere in the Whaley Bridge/New Mills area I think, if that helps.
