View Full Version : Good quote? Danbo 27 January 2002, 21:10 Just had an insurance quote from elephant for £897 for a 2001 Wrx UK300!! Im 25 with 3 yrs no claims. Is this a good quote? They also quoted me £1200 for a 2000 Turbo? burnside 27 January 2002, 21:16 was that a full or a quick quote? Elephant had me fooled once by doing a quick quote, when I completed the full quote the price had risen by £200. ash1 27 January 2002, 21:18 Its a steal - shop around - try Adrian Flux, Scofields in Leeds as well. Danbo 27 January 2002, 21:29 That was an online quote! But seems hopeful to me, I will be getting quotes from loads of places, but it certainly sems like im going to be able to afford it easily (esp considering thats not much more than I pay on my Saxo!!!) nostradamus 28 January 2002, 00:26 Try privilege they came up with the best price for me (24 3yrs ncb) and that was on an RB5 wr so not so different from the uk300 P1Fanatic 28 January 2002, 09:45 Danbo Ill be extremely suprised if thats the final quote. Elephant used to give you an initial quote which was really good - then ask you to fill in a full quote (which was like adding your middle name, colour of car etc) and then it would magically go up by a few hundred quid. Recently their quote system has changed and their first quote is a full one but seems to be a fair bit more pricey. At the moment I am getting quotes of £1,300 from Elephant for a P1 with me being 24, 4 years NCB, clean licence etc so I would expect a UK300 to be £1-200 cheaper. If you have got that quote then fair play. Edited to say - ah you are 23 with 3 years NCB so cant protect your NCB yet - that normally adds on another £150 on top so that quote is probably about right if you have a good postcode. I am 28, no claims or convictions, 5 years NCD, Company MD, only do about 6000 miles a year, and for a £6k WRX they want £2,200 FC. I currently pay about £600 for the MR2. DW Jolly Green Monster 2 28 January 2002, 11:28 That is a good quote.. Dream Weaver - Try a UK Turbo... as I am 27 with 3years no claims and 6 points and am getting quotes for my MY96 of £972 cheapest so far... Elephant wanted £1188.. Jason uk 28 January 2002, 11:32 Try Tesco's, they was the cheapest by far for me. £720 but I'm an old git, 32, full no claims, no convictions and car kept in a garage overnight etc etc, on a UK300 and only another £80 if I have the PPP done. Good luck J uk Craig Mac 28 January 2002, 12:25 How on earth did elephant work that out ?!! They just quoted me 1800. im 25, 6 years no claims UK MY99 turbo!! Funnily though its only 1500 with my girlfriend on as a named driver! Why's that ?? Danbo 28 January 2002, 19:34 Craig your girlfriends driving record will affect the quote too! And women always pay less. Not 100% sure why it makes such a big difference though! Someone in Insurance should be able to tell you! Jolly Green Monster 2 29 January 2002, 10:33 My wifes unbleamished driving history takes around £200 off what was a £1200 quote at most places :) I was the only errrmmmm stupid one... :) GEJL 29 January 2002, 11:58 My wife's blemished record decreased the premium when I added her to my unblemished record... What does that say to you? BTW, I got an on-line quote from Elephant for another car last year, and when I rang to get the final one, it went down from the original quote... Jolly Green Monster 2 29 January 2002, 12:00 Depend what her bleamishs were.. if it was only 3points or a small claim I doubt they would worry about it. Elvis Presley 29 January 2002, 15:20 This will probably sound surprising, but I actually got my insurance through Direct Line. They were the cheapest after loads of phoning around. Elephant tricked me with a decent quick quote, then tried to rip me off. I pay £950 on a UK MY98. I am 26, have full NCB but have 3 points for SP50. The SP50 actually put the insurance up by £100! *******s eh? 8 years ago I got an SP50 which made no difference to the insurance at all! My quote is based on 24000 miles per annum. Aparently National Farmers union are pretty good? Jolly Green Monster 2 29 January 2002, 15:27 Just renewed my MY96 5door Turbo with Liverpool Victoria for £972... 6points CD10 3years no claim and 27... and the wife a named driver. Craig Mac 29 January 2002, 17:21 Direct line are quite competative...i'm with them at the moment. |
