I have a MY99, my fog light covers are genuine Subaru parts and have three clips on them, two at the top one at the bottom. These clips fit into small slots on the bumper. Can you fit the brackets to the fog light fittings at all? Maybe try to post a picture?

yeah i have two slots that fit in the top, and a fixing hole in the bottom right/bottom left but they dont line up with the holes from the fog lights

i have

2 "L" brackets
4 self Tappers
2 selftapper holder things

are that is where it is all going wrong for you. Those brackets are useless. You need the proper brackets from a dealer that attach to the sections where the fog light bolts into. Once fitted in you will be left with a single allen key style knurled bolt. This fits all the way through and uses the gap in the bottom left/right of the covers

not quite sure why they do, but loads of suppliers do the same kit. I found out to my annoyance a while ago and looked at the bag of fittings I had and my fog covers and thought ..eh :wonder: :wonder: :wonder:

eventually went to my local subaru dealer and explained the situation. They sorted out the proper fittings

tbh taking out the fogs is probably a wise move as you will never be driving along, see its foggy, pull over, get out a screwdriver and undo your fog covers :)

these brackets are available from any subaru dealer, either via person or by post

i see what you mean, but i want it as a option two screws if the fog is bad is not alot of work to pull over and do the business ;)

are your fogs behind your covers?

nope, because the brackets were a pain to fit with the fogs in and also I had to lose the fogs when I did my FMIC

ah right ok, does this mean the genuine ones still cant be fitted without taking the lights out?

yes they can, just it wasnt relevant in my setup.
The are angled to fit using the existing fog bolts

Mate,

I've found them at Japanparts.com: TOKYO GM SHOKAI KK (http://www.japanparts.com) and Scoobyparts - Subaru Impreza parts and accessories (http://scoobyparts.co.uk/) can get hold of them as well :thumb:

Scoobyparts can supply 'rough' copies (in their words) for £10 inc vat and genuine Subaru ones for £20 inc vat. :D

Personally I'm gonna be ordering some Genuine ones from Tim at Scoobyparts tomorrow :)

Drew on precious metal is an absolute star, he sorted out some brackets for my g/f's early classic and they arrived this morning :thumb:

BTW precious metal supply ALL the main suppliers for their brackets, like scoobyparts/scoobyworld etc, so best to go straight to the main guys

ohhh and invoice my time and effort is in the post :D

Sorry for the hijack guys, but I was about to start a thread with near enough the same questions.
I'm after a set of fog covers for a MY99 and always thought they were made to go on over the actual fogs to allow easier access if I do need to use them.
Is it possible with the brackets in the link?
Also I haven't sourced any covers yet, but the precious metail place is doing them and the brackets/stickers for 50 quid .: PreciousMetal-Online.co.uk - (http://www.preciousmetal-online.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=548_551_571&products_id=56&osCsid=08232b09457d487dcd5e4b22f76b7d1f)
is that where I'm best of getting them from.

Yup :thumb:

The brackets should allow you to use the fogs and still have the covers over the top.Ask drew at preciousmetal. If you can hold off, I am fitting the brackets this weekend and can give you the definitive answer.

I wait because I've noticed on ebay that precious metal sell them too, and it says fog lamps have to be removed, just like if you sued original Subaru covers: Subaru Impreza 99-00 STi V5 Fog Lamp Covers Kit WRX, P1 on eBay, also Other Exterior Styling, Exterior Styling, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 24-Apr-08 20:36:31 BST) (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180233376569&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=008)
I noticed it after the I posted my question.
