It's been 12 years since my last AMCA Expert 250 race....and before I get to old I'm going to have another crack at it. First race will be in May.

This is me in 1995 and 1996 I think...........on a 1994 KX 250.

looking good there, you might find the YZ450 a bit much on a full on motocross track though tbh, easy to ride but going quite fast i find them a bit heavy on the front! mine seems to tuck in on the sand and chucks me off! mind you it might just be me being rubbish, lol.

Nothing like easing yourself back in gently, is there?

Enjoy...

..and this is nothing like it, LOL :D

Can't wait to ride......can wait to feel the aches and pains the next day, and that doesn't include those I might get if I fall off.

:)

The AMCA clearly had my details on file, as they have put me in the Senior class straight away :Suspiciou .....no easy trophies then.

Might as well go in at the deep end and enter a race on Sunday then :freak3: :freak3: :cuckoo:

Lucky/unlucky that it was cancelled.

May have been an OK day, but I think there would have been problems getting in and out of the place.

First race today and my first time on any motorbike for over 10 years. I had to late enter I I'd not had the time to book in at our weekly club meetings plus with no transport I had to rely on others to get my bike there.

The AMCA seemed fit to promote me straight to a Senior rider so I missed the trophies that would have come with being a Junior rider. I'm guessing they saw I was an expert rider so must have had some talent.

Still £29 seems great value a motorsport event of any kind, usually it's only £18 if you book a few weeks in advance.

Weather didn't look to good so I wasn't sure if I'd even race, but it did not get cancelled and in fact the area seemed to avoid most of the bad weather. The track looked a bit soft in places, but if the weather held off it looked idea.

Pratice
Very sticky and very much hard work, but I managed to complete my laps without falling off.

After I got back to out pit, I wasn't really sure what I'd let myself in to! Hard work and not what I would call enjoyable!

Race 1
I let all the riders go at the start, and tootled around at the back on the much dryer track. For at least 2 laps I felt I could still do it.....then fatigue set in and I had to slow down a bit else the bike would have been heading off without me. I managed to stall the bike, and hardly had the energy to kick the bugger back over.

Race 2
Again, for 2 laps I was in a race and could keep up with e few back markers. Then I stalled it. Then I fell off :loser: , then I stalled it again.

Race 3
Nearly feel asleep in the car. But was my best race, I stalled it in the 3rd corner and once started kept going until the end.

I'm sat here now really biginning to ache, but it will be worth it I had a great time and the weather was fantastic!

I'm not sure the 4 stroke 450s are the monster some people say, but they are cetainly lively for a born again biker!

So how am I getting on?

After a very slow start I'm now a 2 time race winner :) and regular top 10 rider. In fact I expect a top 3 every ride.....it doesn't happen every ride, but thats what I expect. When I manage to string 3 races together I'll get an elusive plastic trophy!

Apart from the racing I've slimed down from 17 stone to under 15.5!

I've only fell off a few times...maybe 4, with no harm done.

The best thing I've done in a very long time...I'm rather proud of myself.

...oh and I've had it stolen once, and foiled another attempt.
