I really need an answer to this brake problem.
I have a 2000 WRX turbo, over the past year the brakes would accionally grab slightly requiring more power to go foeward, normally waiting for about 10-20minutes with the car shut down would solve the problem, this happened about 10 times over the year, the subaru tech guys in Chile, do not want to respond to this problem, or seem to suggest replacing parts, without knowing what is causing this brake problem. I took it in for its 20000k check they replaced a part( I can't remember what its called exactly) and this has made the car undrivable, with the brakes virtually on as you try to drive, the pedal is hard, and smoke coming out from the tires. After parking it for an hour after this last incident, the brake pedal goes down to the floor, with nearly no braking action whatsoever. Anyone having similar problems please email at dwalker@terra.cl. Thanks

Welcome David. It's not easy to diagnose from your post, but it's very clear that, whatever the problem was before your service, the problem now is over-heating, which will happen very quickly if the brakes are binding badly, and it sounds like they are
Pedal going to the floor is boiled fluid. Serious danger.
Bearing in mind where you are, only fit official Subaru parts. Is there any vibration through the steering wheel under braking? If so, your discs are warped, too.
Get it sorted NOW. Aren't there some rather steep hills in Chile?
Best wishes,
Richard.

Sounds like a total rebuild should be done ASAP. Take all the components off, clean out the pistons, now seals etc., get rid of ALL the old fluid too (get them to put something decent in). Check all the hoses for signs of damage or pinching. Replacing the master cylinder may help as a faulty diaphragm could cause this, as could a non-returning pedal assembly (neither of which is a common fault, but it can happen on any car).
Sounds like a letter directly to the MD of Subaru in Chile is in order...FUSS time m8.

I replaced the master brake cyclinder, and all problems have disapeared, the brakes were in good condition and did not need replacing, thanks for all and any help, Chile has 5000 km of roads that go from top to bottom, these are in good condition especially after the recent completion a double lane highway, Up north in the desert there is about 1500km of roads with very little cops, animals and traffic so getting the WRX to its top speed of 260 is no problem
However it is nice to have brakes to slow you down...
Thanks once again...
