Default Upgrading sounds in Blobeye.

As per title can anyone offer any suggestions for a sound upgrade for my Blobeye. Ideally some replacement amplified fronts, possibly rears if easy fit. Also an amp and subwoofer. I don't want anything that'll rattle fillings (grown out of that ) but some nice balanced sound with a decent mid and low punch.

Before you start any of this, get some sound deadening like dynamat or such like and line the inners of your doors with it. Dont be shy with it either.

This will instantly improve the sound with in the car.

If you are still not happy then its place to do the following:

Get some proper decent component speakers for the front, some direct replacement (size) uprated for the rear.
A four channel amp should do the trick with one channel bridged for the sub and the other two powering the fronts.
Run the rear speakers off the headunit as a fill in.

Use decent cables throughout.

Alternatively for some extra punch in the car, you could look at the under seat options provided by most manufacturers.
That way, you fell it and hear it but it wont rattle your teeth.

Just an idea

Here is a quick guide to what i did in my Blobeye. Now you obviously wont install the exact same setup as me but mine does have sensational sound quality and balance with massive midrange and bass

Firstly i removed the standard things they call speakers

Then i fully dynamatted the doors and made up 18mm thick MDF spacers

then i fitted a set of Focal 165K2P component speakers

Then came the build for the subwoofers which comprised of a fibreglass enclosure built into a false floor behind the passenger front seat, dynamatted floor. The subs are JL8w3 and everything is powered by a JL 300/4 amplifier

covered

and the system was finished off with a Kenwood DDX7029 headunit

might be of interest, might not but i thought id share my experiences

That looks fantastic. Just out of interest what sort of cost did you incur and how mcuh difference did the dynamatt make?

Dynamat (or similar) is vital if you put any decent speakers in the front doors - if you don't, there's no point upgrading IMHO.

I have:
Alpine 9887r
Infinity 6020cs
Alpine SWE-1000 powered sub under my seat.
Amp for fronts to come.

It delivers what you are after for under 500 all in (fitted myself).

Hope this helps.

the headunit was £420
the sub/amp build was £850 supplied and fitted
the Focal K2P components were £150 off ebay
and the Dynamat extreme was £50

so £1420 all in and worth every penny IMO

Hey

I have 2 BRAND NEW JL AUDIO 12" SUBS w3v3.

I was considering putting them in my scooby but Im not sure if I'm going to keep it, it is still in original packaging and has never been touched.

As you may know JL audio are a good brand and the sound quality is brilliant, I was going to run 1000/1 JL AUDIO amp with them.

My boyfriend had the same set up in his car and was running the front components with a separate 300/4 JL AUDIO amp. It was preety damn good!

They retail at approx £170 each brand new

Make me an offer...

PM me if interested.
