First question for you... are you looking to buy a standard car or a modded car ?

Daily driver or weekend toy ?
It does make a difference trust me :D

DAVE-W 01 March 2008, 10:27 There's a very nice looking champagne coloured wagon with prodrive alloys on an 04 I think in the new Pinetree cars in Llanelli £9900 ish.

matscooby 01 March 2008, 11:12 Welcome Nick,
£12k for a budget is very nice, but as its been said already, it all depends on driving style.
I could say a nice V5 or V6 Classic type R for a raw performance car if its just a weekend car, or a nice V8 or poss a V9 STI.
I will say though once you've start spending money on it, there is no end to it as alot of peeps will tell you.
WRX RCY 01 March 2008, 12:02 Hello and welcome.
turboDean 01 March 2008, 12:34 Really need to know ur age, NCD etc to estimate how much the insurance is going to cost if thats got to be inc in the budget :thumb:
As long as ur over 25 then it would be a 99/00 Type R or a P1 or a Newage STI (bugeye or blobeye) if it were my choice. :)
big daz2 01 March 2008, 13:28 hi ya mate glad to have you aboad type r,s are the way to go id loved mine but dont get one if moneys an issue.i also had a green uk and the type r was way better.
scooby401 01 March 2008, 13:54 :thumb:, 12k nice budget unless you are 17, then you,ll be looking at a 93wrx and 9k on ins:(, if your in your L8 20's or 30's id be tempted by a 99 type r, spec-c bug, or an early blob sti, depending on daily drive or toy:).
evil.soup 01 March 2008, 14:51 Welcome aboard mate;)
As most have already said, it all depends, but 12k will get you a lot of car. Type r's are seriously cool kit but a little hardcore but the blobeye Sti would be my choice as an all round car.
Something like this:
Subaru : Impreza STi 53 plate UK Model (http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/338304.htm)
nickbb 03 March 2008, 22:12 Thanks everyone for the responses.
To answer the questions-
I am 31 looking for a standard car - might then do some mods.
Need to use the car everyday.
12k has to include insurance - got full ncd.
I might come along to the next meet if that's ok with you guys and have a look round the cars. :luvlove:
Cheers
matscooby 03 March 2008, 22:46 Your more than welcome to the meets, it will give you some good ideas of what different variants of impreza there are available.
Though I must say, every new person that joins the club has to buy the first round of drinks, well I reckon they should anyway.
ashmask88 04 March 2008, 18:00 well just for an idea on insurance depending on ur age, im 19!
ive got a 2.0 litre GX and i ay £2,100 P.A!! if ur around my age with any points or anything suspicious u r llooking at this fgure or upp, as i have no points (touch f***ing wood) and nothing to dodgy im not to bad, but still a sore point :(

To give you an idea of insurance, im 31 with full NCD insured to cover 15k a year with business use and the wife on the policy and all my mods are declaired and covered like for like.
I had a new policy on the 3rd March and it cost me £500!!!!!:)
Try Keith Michaels or A-plan.
Oh ye, i drive an 06 WRX.
Hope this helps mate!
mervil 04 March 2008, 22:02 Just renewed my insurance with A Plan,
700 notes with all mods declared on my MY05 STi (28 with 3years NCD)
Not bad at all I thought :D
Classics are more to insure bizzarely even though they are a group 17 and Newage WRX's are 19 and the STi a 20.
So, 11k will get you a nice Prodrive Edition Bugeye STi and room for insurance I think :thumb:
