as above dont know what the part is called but it sits at the bottom of the spring round the thred on the on the arm to adjust the stiffness of the spring and its give way i would post a pic but dont know how,i know its a bad description but any help would be appreciated

If i understand you well, you mean the adjustable spring lower platform ring?
It's purpose is to adjust the spring compression and hence ride height.
To find a replacement you must find out the manufacturer of the suspension, or take the strut off the car and take it to a good machine shop who will make you the special sleeve nut and copy all the features you need for the strut/spring.
They can fail quickly if made of aluminium and suffering from salt corrosion over the years.

yes spot on mate,the make of the suspension is custec pro never heard of it and cant find it any where on the web theres lots of jap language over it,so from what your saying i need one custom made taking all that off should be fun i only wanted to paint my brakes :cry: ,thanks for your help:thumb:

Every chance as the threads tend to be the same on these units, but the spring diameters can vary. They are obviously Jap origin.
David at Welcome to the API website (http://www.apiengines.com) has strong contacts in Japan, might be worth calling him.
Also try google search on the name, you might be surprised!

Mmmmm, quite a mess.
However, the thread pitch and size look quite normal compared to AVO/AST etc so you are in with a chance.
You units have two rings which are spannered to each other using a special C spanner. Most units now use a single split collar with a pinch screw.
