Fixed my rear foglamp at the weekend on my my97wrx but whoever wired it up has just tapped off the rear r/h sidelight. Is anyone elses like this? You can see the sidelights dim a little when you turn the foglight on which seems a bit dodgy! Any help would be apprieciated as i'd like to avoid a fire if at all possible!

What switches it? It's supposed to have a separate switch.

If it has, you can use it's present feed FROM the switch to switch a relay, then bring in a slightly thicker cable to the relay direct from the battery, via an inline fuse under the bonnet, close to the battery.

Run the new cable inside the car: it's easy to do, under the plastic door kick plates. Takes longer to describe than to do;)

Relay should be a standard four-terminal on/off.

Connections: FROM foglight switch (at present) TO relay terminal 85.
FROM relay terminal 86 TO a decent earth.
FROM battery via fuse, TO relay terminal 30
FROM relay terminal 87 TO foglight.

Shroud all terminals with plastic covers, the type that slip on before you crimp the terminal. DON'T buy those terminals with coloured plastic rings on them, get brass of galvanised ones from a decent place.

Theres a seperate switch for the foglamp but the entire thing is powered off the sidelights, no relay involved! Thanks for the reply mate i'll get it sorted no probs now!
