^^^^thats de cat by the way i was trying faster than my ability^^^^.......
Hi everyone,
New to all this so i apologise in advance.
i have a 2003 wrx with ppp which i believe should run around 265 bhp. This was great 18 month ago as it felt like a missile compared to my cooper s but now lacks that excitement.
I have been told a whole host of tales about boost valves?,decat down pipes, centres and remaps, leaving me bemused.
can i really achive a noticable torque and acceleration increase without spending thousands on modifications, as if it becomes silly expensive i feel the money would go better on a nice sti prodrive.
decat pro's/cons?
remap?
thanks everyone

cheers for that
what sort of money do you think the decats and remap would cost and what sort of bhp or gain could i expect, your charts bafled me a bit. I think mine should be 260 / 265 bhp at the moment

Sadly it probably isn't:(

My mods got me to 235WHP which I would call IRO 275 BHP Decat would be slightly higher. Better to have a true 235WHP than the headline PPP figure that you probably aren't hitting. The best part about going down the route you are considering is the overall improvement in response and drivability, not just BHP gains. You will get them but they are only half the story :thumb:

If you are getting greedy, change to an STI. Yours will probably swap to a nice bug-eye for little extra cash.
Engine will go to 400 bhp.
Six speed box will take 500 bhp.
Better brakes, harsher ride....
Nice interior, and not much thirstier.

But it's your money !

Enjoy !

YOU MAY WELL BE RIGHT, I ORIGINALLY BOUGHT THE WRX BECAUSE AN STI WAS AT THE TIME 2-3K MORE AND ONLY 20 BHP MORE BUT NOW IT COULD BE TIME FOR AN UPGRADE.I WILL HAVE TO DO SOME SUMS AND DECIDE HOW MUCH I LOVE THE OLD GIRL. THANKS
