View Full Version : Advance Notice - Midland Track Day
P1 Enthusiast 21 January 2002, 19:37 Just giving you all a heads up for a track day near Lincoln coming soon, around April or May.
I will be organising a Lincoln Airfield to be opened to us for the day. The idea is to donate some money to charity as the airfield will be free.
In short - i need to know the following, what would you like to see provided, the airfield has some twisty sections great for hanging the car out.
Do you want;
a) Autotest style driving events
b) Just a chance to use the airfield and compare times?
c) 0-60 shootout, 0-100, 1/4 mile?
Anyone who has been to this type of event and can recommend or provide timing gear for shootouts etc would be extremely useful. Otherwise i cannot really offer those events without using amateur timing methods, although we could drag the top 5 off if wanted.
What sort of facilities do i need to provide for the day itself? Food and toilet only? Anything else?
Its going to take quite a bit of my own personal time to organise this so i will be looking for good support and assistance if possible, lets have a great day and give a shed load of cash to good causes.
If a success the event could be repeated fairly easily ;)
Great~taste~Bloke 21 January 2002, 21:45 Me. I would like to.

P1 Enthusiast 22 January 2002, 00:31 I anticipate providing fully qualified medics and marshalls in addition to a feeder, since the RAF medics will probably do it if i ask nice and to watch some nice motors going sideways!
Mate's GF is a doctor, she don't know it yet but she will be roped in ;) Besides she has an MGF she will want to razz about in :D

Andy Winskill 22 January 2002, 08:15 Are you going to run it as open pit lane or split into sessions? I'll probably be up for it, but I'll need to check closer to the time. Got any date's in mind?
Type R 22 January 2002, 09:05 Just a thought if all is going to charity, it might be worth speaking to Book a Track, and or Easy Track, and use their expertise. I know they have both done charity days before.
Hanslow 22 January 2002, 13:46 Dude, I'll be in if I have a car by then. Currently at the menders after a very balletic slide followed by a very full-on wrestling body slam in to a barrier.
Could have done with time on an airfield earlier to practice catching skids. If I get the car back by then, I'll be in ;)
Topjimo 28 January 2002, 10:25 Sounds good to me, although I would be more interested in trying out some full on cornering, and tail out stuff.
I have about 30 traffic cones, if thats any use to you.

P1 Enthusiast 24 February 2002, 12:55 Still looking good.
I won't be able to organise it till APril due to work commitments.
Currently need to look into the insurance and liability aspects. Anyone know anything about what i require ?
WRXBOB 24 February 2002, 13:57 P1
if you need any help with thing's I will be willing to lend a hand.
Busy with work 'till late March, but after that I should have plenty of time.
Mail me as and when you need any thing...
will have a look into the liabilty / insurance thing, though I think it will depend on the venue, in some cases the owners of the venue will be held liable if any thing goes wrong if they have giving their permission for it to take place.
Or am I talking b0ll0cks!
At least I can take CORNERS :D
Cheers
BOB

Kev S 25 February 2002, 12:56 P1,
I'm interested. a,b & c would be nice and let people pick what they do. Plenty of spectators too. Have you tried Manby. Believe they hire the runway for events. (I've competed in off road events their).
Keep me posted. Happy to help.
