burt2000 28 January 2008, 19:14 id try not to drive it if it was my car,or if you have to stay off boost....its hard to pin point a prob like that, maybe coil pack, spark plugs or a failing maf sensor.

windyboy 30 January 2008, 11:48 erratic idle ? wasn't he is Monty Python ??
no but seriously, it might be a battery problem, my car was idling very low for a few days after the battery died last week, but once I recharged it and drove the car for a few days it sorted itself out.
Is it just me or does anybody else's battery die if the car isn't used for 4 or 5 days ? It still happens even with a new battery.

petedotuk 30 January 2008, 12:14 im just having a wild stab in the dark here, but if ur MAF is OK(after u check) would the problem be the neutral switch which lets the brain know if the car is in gear/neutral so it can adjust the valve timing?
Only wondering as mine was tempermental and had idling probs!
OLLIeRB5 31 January 2008, 19:46 in response to windyboy, my car spends 6 days a week ni the garage with all the security features armed.. and its a nightmare to start as the battery is so low, but it does start :(
glad i`m not the only one

my starter always sounded lazy dfrom when i bought the car last april, but it always started until around dec when it got very cold then would need charged every day or 2 to start it......i got a new one and now it starts first pop no probs and starter is far quicker...they rae 50 quid though as thyre apparantly a special battery lol......get a new one ollie ull see a big difference, apparantly trackers and immobilsers will drain them over time.
davey21wagon 01 February 2008, 16:54 cheers wills lol ustolemyname its got a hks dump valve on it if that means anything ollie cheers mate but its a 98 so wont fit thanks anyway
i d say try taking ur dump valve off first
ustolemyname??stevieturbo 01 February 2008, 16:58 HKS dump valves are forever leaking....pure crap IMO.
urban 01 February 2008, 18:02 I can't remember 100% the make off hand now - blitz I think.
However it was a VTA valve and many moons ago I put on of these on a MY00.
For a laugh only of course.
It would stall every junction I came to.
Bearly would tick over.
Recirculating valve went back on again pretty damn quick.

burt2000 01 February 2008, 21:41 heard of this before with them
burt2000 01 February 2008, 21:43 oem dumpvalve ftw, not sold on aftermarket ones sorry, plus the noise would annoy me after a while:nono:
gti00eater 03 February 2008, 22:49 i havent done anything to the car but it seems to have stoped and everything is fine is it likely to come back?? and if it was the dumpvalve why is it only doing it now??
OrangeRA 03 February 2008, 22:57 HKS dump valves are forever leaking....pure crap IMO.
I have had several cars come in where the HKS SQV or whatever they call them has just fallen apart inside
\\shorty// 04 February 2008, 16:08 i had the same prob. it turned out that my hks dump valve needed adjusting by screwing the bolt at the bottom.
gti00eater 06 February 2008, 09:04 aw cheers must check that out thanks
