View Full Version : WRC on Dave? Yay or Nay?
Gilesdwrc 27 January 2008, 19:36 WRC on Dave is superb so far:luxhello:. On the spot presenter (and a good one at that!:notworthy) Good coverage at a decent time of day.:)
But that's my opinion. What's yours?
BTW, Fcuk you ITV:hjtwofing, This is how it should have been done!
Gilesdwrc 27 January 2008, 19:49 Neil Cole:- "Oop's I've just hit that guy, never mind he's French!":luxhello:

rsarjantson 27 January 2008, 20:02 mm - ok I guess but very men & motors in style of presentation.
Terrible that ITV dont show any coverage (that I'm aware of anyway !)

Steve_PPP 27 January 2008, 20:45 I voted nay - don't like the presenter.
there's another thread about this here:

wrxjay03 27 January 2008, 20:49 missed it so i wouldnt know
Andy Murdoch 27 January 2008, 20:58 Too much garble and not enough rally coverage. You would think there was only half a dozen cars in the event. We don't want to see him poncing around Monaco in hairdresser's Mini.
Robbie Head was best commentator who had the experience and knowledge.
ps WRC.com website is utter pants, I couldn't even find a results tab with live stage times. They've also drawn the privelege from Eurosport to show live stage times. I think they'll be getting a few snottergrams.

I have to agree with the comments above.

A combination of Robbie Head and Mike Brewer would be perfect for me, i like the way they did the rallying on sky.
Mike Brewer has great passion as a presenter and he is knoweldgeable from his background in the car industry, Robbie Head is a very knoweldgeable and he knows all the techinical stuff and him and Mike Brewer work well together.
Distinguished Gentleman 28 January 2008, 12:48 Mike Brewer????????????? you cannot be serious. Robbie Heeeeeeeeed, That would be OK. He might even be able to buy a stop-watch
DG
BOB.T 28 January 2008, 13:21 Robbie 'I've got the splits on' Heeeeeeeeed and Mike 'awight guvnor, wanna buy a cut n shut apples n bleedin pears' Brewer, you 'avin a laugh, is he 'avin a laugh?! :D
'The rallying on Sky', or the British Rally Championship as I like to call it, has THE most patronising of all rally coverage, bar none! The commentary is nothing short of pathetic! It's all dubbed over afterwards, they know the results, they know about the 'off' that's coming up and yet they still wet their collective pants with (false) excitement! It's more wooden than an Oak tree!
Heeed, with his 'knowledge' is 'acceptable. If he could expand his vocaulary beyond 'I've got the splits on', ' X was ultra quick through there Mike' and 'I've crashed there myself' he'd be good.
Brewer, 'passionate', maybe. He can work a crowd up. Face for TV, no, voice for TV, no. That said he did give me a pear drop once! :thumb:
D6ale 28 January 2008, 13:41 Rally coverage for me was best when it was on Channel 4 with the team that did it then.
Last night on Dave was appauling, i thought it would be different this year but it was a let down. Why does anyone want to watch a man drive around Monaco in a convertable mini? Surely since they have sent a cameraman to the top of the Col de turini you should let his footage be shown?
As said above you would only think there were 10 cars in the rally. More coverage of drivers down the field as well as the leading guys.
I thought they would have the in between rally shows dedicated to showing none stage footage / interviews / tech talk / driving around in a mini. And dedicate rally weekend shows to side of the stage action.
renny 28 January 2008, 19:15 I quite liked it in general - it's an improvement over ITV (just plain crap) & Eurosport (very erratic shedules, often fecked my planner Sky+ recording up as programmes often overran).
Still not enough actual rallying being shown though and pleeeeaaase, when you do, don't just show Citroen.:(
Chelspeed 28 January 2008, 19:57 This was the second programme so they're still trying to build the viewer base.
I'd like to think that with programmes every week between events they can do the long driver interviews and other tat on those. That should allow more of the stages for future events.
So I'll personally give them the benefit of doubt for this programme and decide yea or nay after a couple of events.
pippyrips 28 January 2008, 22:51 Compared to what has been on over the past few years i though Dave's coverage of the Monty was pretty good. As mentioned above it could do with a bit more actual rally footage but on the whole :thumb:
Blue Dragoon 07 February 2008, 16:59 Anyone watch the WRC Programme about young Wilson on Dave? It was a filler to cover him and the run in to Rally Sweden. Very good actually.
Steve_PPP 08 February 2008, 09:18 Yeah i saw it. The bit about Sweden wasn't bad, but the whole section about Matt Wilson was just a re-run of the preview programme they did a couple of weeks ago.
Hopefully it will improve as a weekly show :)
F1 CJE UK 04 March 2008, 15:23 i think its been really good way better then itv or ch 4 have done... and every week ...
