Default Help with ELM 327 ODB2 connectivity

Hi,

I have just bought the ELM 327 interface with serial connectivity to read my MY99 UK Turbo ECU data.

When i go to connect to it using ODB Master it is failing to communicate with the car. It communicates with the ELM 327 interface but it appears that the ELM327 interface is not communicating with the car.

Has anyone had this issue before or has anyone got any ideas as to what i have to do to get it to work.

Craig

Yup, 99 and 00MY cars are not OBD compatable, but use Subaru Select Monitor (SSM) communications protocol, so any OBD compatable item will not talk to your 99MY car.

Just tried it on a couple of other cars and the kit works.

Can you get the select monitor from anywhere?

Not sure of the detail, you need a special cable and software, apparently a LOT dearer (like £130 ish) than a normal OBD setup.

I checked it out and its alot more than that £400-500. Plus you need the right cartridges to put in the select monitor to do specific jobs for specific year cars.

Cheeper to just take it to the dealer when needed.

On a side note - Does anyone know if the Apexi Power FC is OBD2 compliant??
