As I now can't buy the wheels I wanted.. *grrr* I have an urge to spend money on the car.

So - the new Meg's machine looks good, could someone give me a suggestion to what would be a good bundle of stuff to get with it? - pads/polishes/etc.

I have lots of the megs stuff already - but I don't mind buying some more heavy duty polishes in order to sort out my pretty swirly paintwork. (Pretty in a lots way.. not a pretty way ;))

So; I know I'd get an advanced kit as I'd want as much flexibility as I could get. So any suggestions on whats the best pads to use on a 2002 WR Blue scoob? Presumably with using Menzerna range of polishes?

What is the difference between the Meg's, 3M and Lake Country pads? (Maybe worth a whole separate thread by itself when you get the time! ;))

For a pretty swirly Subaru using a Meguiars machine, I would recommend exactly the approach I laid out in the guide posted last week. Start with Menzerna RD3.02 on Lake Country CCS Light Cut Pads - this will do the bulk of the correction work, and it is worth going for the kit with two of these pads included. Then, switch to Menzerna 85RD using Lake Country CCS Polishing Pads - this will refine the finish and sharpen the gloss. Then simply follow up with your favourite wax or sealant. Just for info, both the 3M and Meguiars pads work better on the rotary and with other polishes, but to keep everyone happy I'm offering them as an option. Our preference is CCS pads when using Menzerna polishes, and Menzerna polishes are in turn our favoured option on Subaru paint when using dual action machines.

Decided I'm going to practice my Megs polisher technique on my wife's 1997 metallic gold Nissan Micra before attacking the Scoob.

It is in a right old state and has probably only been washed maybe a dozen times in its life:eek2: - honestly! - and has never, ever been polished or protected.

If I buy Menzerna RD3.02 and Menzerna 85RD in anticipation of using it on the Scoob (which *is* washed very regularly and protected etc) will that be OK on the Micra do you think? Or maybe I could use the Menzerna One Step Acrylic Jacket I've got instead?

RD3.02 may be too strong; I'd try the 85RD first and see how you go (Acrylic Jacket will have even less cut). Some of the far eastern paints are crazy soft, but I can;t recall working on a Nissan, so best proceed with caution. :D

I'm Rich... when Clark posts he posts as Clark@PolishedBliss, while Angela doesn't frequent the forums at all - she's too busy keeping me and Clark in line! German paints are typically justa little harder than Subaru paint, so see this guide for my recommended polishes and pads for dual action machines...

However, if you use a rotary polisher, then 3M pads have the edge when working with the Menzerna polishes.

can you tell me what combo to get as i have a ford focus rs and i want to get the megs mc in the next month or so but i dont know which pads ect is best for my paint

Well, whilst Ford paint is usally more intermediate in terms of hardness, every Focus RS we have done has been much harder and more like most Germanic paints, so it is likely the above process will be the best. However, it would be worth starting with 106FA instead of RD3.02, just to make sure your paint is actually hard rather than intermediate. :thumb:

With the more uniformly grey coloured one being the 85RD?

Check the bar code/label underneath, it'll say 106FA or 85RD on there somewhere. I got caught out by this and ended up with 2 bottles of 106 'cos I ordered another thinking I already had the 85, grrr

Bane of our lives too - why they used the same labels is beyond me. Might look into getting different labels made up, but no doubt the cost would be an issue... so maybe more obvious stickers will do?

Yip, a little sticker with it on would be ideal - from my perspective as a customer, I think labels would be an unnecessary cost to yourselves, and I guess you need to look "smarter" than just scribbling on them with a black permanent lumocolour. That wouldn't bother me either really as thats exactly what I'm going to do myself, because I KNOW that the first time I use them the stickers will fall off the bottom!

I did look at the bar-code on the label, but thats also identical - must make automated stock tracking a nightmare for Menzerna themselves let alone anyone else!
