HI,

I've gone crazy and have got some gauges to fit...... :norty:

Oil Temp - Sensor wont fit into gallery plug & neither adapter fits either
Water Temp - Not too sure where to fit this??
Oil Pressure - Not too sure where to fit this??
Fuel Pressure - I'll need a kit for remote gauge i guess.
Boost - should be able to fit.
ETG sensor - fitted.

Has anyone fitted any of these - Autometer gauges, if so how? :wonder:

Cheers
Chris.

I never fitted my Autogauges but have had a look at how they are wired and my oil temp and pressure sensor are fitted to a sandwich plate on top of my oil filter.

Hope this helps you mate.

If you don't want a sandwich plate, you can get adaptors from LMA performance (LMA Performance Homepage - UK Supplier of Car / Automobile Custom Parts and Accessories (http://www.lmaperformance.com)). The oil gallery plug with an 1/8npt thread is LMA067 and the oil pressure adaptor (also 1/8 npt thread) is LMA095/1/300. I ordered some last week and got them the next day :)

Just make sure you confirm the part numbers (do a search on here), as they're from the top of my head. Also, confirm that your senders are 1/8npt, of course :)

The oil pressure t-piece kit fits into the standard pressure sensors hole (under the alternator) and the temp sensor adaptor fits into the oil gallery plug above piston 3.

I'm getting a water pipe t-piece adaptor from some place in the states. It's essentially an aluminium tube of 38mm with a 1/8npt thread on it in the middle. I plan on fitting this to the pipe that goes to the radiator.

OK here goes....

OIL TEMP

1) locate the Blanking Plug on cylinder number 3. If you look at the
FRONT CENTER of the intercooler then look diagonally down to the right
and you should see it. Look past the throttle lever.
2) take this out. This will be very difficult to remove and may need a
few hours of soaking with WD40. I soaked mine in WD40 the day before
doing this job. I needed a big breaker bar to have enough leverage to
get mine out.
3) Now, once the blanking plug is out you need to "prep" the adaptor
to replace it.
4) Cover the threads of the adaptor with PTFE tape so as to give a good seal.
5) CAREFULLY screw the adaptor into place. Dont ruin the threads!
6) OK with that in place you can now turn your attention to the temp
sensor which you should have got with the gauge.
7) This temp sensor should then screw into the top of the adaptor you
just screwed into place above. Be sure to use PTFE tape on the thread
of the temp sensor aswell.
8) Now, you will need to extend the wiring from the temp sensor in
order for it to reach from the engine through the bulk head and to the
back of the gauge.
9)Any good hardware store will sell wire. I used
black and red as it allowed me to keep track of what wires I used for
POWER and GROUND.
10) Secure the wires in the engine from touching anything. Keep them
away from hot things.
11) All thats left then is to wire up the gauges. I got power and ground from cigarette lighter.
This way the gauges will be lit ALL THE TIME regardless of the
headlights being on.

Cheers Scuubdoo,

it's the adapters that i need to sort out for the gallery plug as the adapter i have with my gauge doesn't fit the gallery hole, so i have got to sort out which adapter the autometer adapter will fit into in the gallery hole.

oh the thread sizes are driving me crazy.

Thanks for that guide tho it will help.

Cheers
Chris.

ah I see your problem. Once you get all the right gear together my guide should help you with fitting. The link that Henrik gave is very popular.

just bought one of the remote t pieces, where abouts have you mounted the connector block? also after fitting do you have to bleed any air out of the pipe as this is now the highest point of the oil or does it just push air back into engine on its own? thanks dean.
