Here are a few shots from a visit last week to Les Trois Vallees. It was a fantastic week. It snowed at night and then the sun shone during the day. It could hardly have been better. And the slopes were deserted - bliss.

Love 8 and 9 :D

Hoping to get some like this when I go to Austria later this year.

BTW, Hope you don't mind as I like my mountainscapes as B+W's I have had a play and they really work!

Nice images but...did you shoot in RAW mode? If so, you might want to tweak the exposure a bit as those whites look grey to me...or maybe it's just my eyes! :)

ditto to the exposure comment from STI Frenchie

Great compositions though!

This one for me. Awesome :) A bit more blue in the sky maybe?

No, unfortunately they were not shot in RAW. It's an age old problem with snow shots and automatic metering. With film the answer was to over expose by one stop. Also with the low sun there is a lot of contrast between the highlights and the shade, which always looks blue. Anyway thanks for the comments.

CharlesW, I sense in your post that you are a bit dissappointed and please believe me that my comments were meant to be constructive. I live around this sort of scenery and it's pretty damn hard to get it right but you've done a wonderful job and as said above, the composition is great. The contrast could be overcome with ND grads but hey, when you are on the slopes who gives a hoot!?!? You got some great shots there and like Richard, I think the powder coming off the mountain top looks great. Polariser next time for some more blue in the sky but then again, isn't retrospective great for those of us who weren't there at the time?!

No. I am not the least bit disappointed. I went for a weeks skiing and lucked out with the weather. Sunshine and powder most days. What more could you wish for.

I carry my camera in my rucksack, so I stop to take a picture or three. But it was a skiing holiday not a photography trip.

As to the polariser the lens I am currently using has an 82mm front element, so I am still waiting for a set of filters, which are on back order.

Hopefully I will be in Val d'Isere in April.

Well all being well STi, I will be in the area in Dec / Jan. I'm crossing fingers for a trip to Hochfilzen in Austria in Dec and Ruhpolding in Germany in Jan.

Hopefully there will be snow for the Biathlon rounds, unlike the man made stuff they were racing on this year.
