View Full Version : *** 2.5 Sti Short engine group buy *** £1095!!!!!
Andygreer 16 January 2008, 17:27 *** 2.5 Sti Short engine group buy ***
I have been looking around for a good deal on a 2.5 upgrade for my WRX and have asked what discount would be available for volume, here’s what I’ve managed to secure with one of the UK’s biggest Subaru tuners.
For this group buy for 5+ units the price is an excellent £1150+vat
For 10 the price is an unheard of £1095+vat
For a forged piston upgrade add £400+v to the above prices.
That’s potentially £1495+v complete with forged pistons !
If your 2.0 is getting tired or you just want a healthy +25 % increase in midrange torque and driveability then converting to a 2.5 is the way forward.
These short engines come as complete Subaru factory assembled units with Sti crankshaft, Sti conrods, bearings and Sti 99.5mm pistons.
This is exactly the same short engine as fitted to the MY 06/07 Sti, typically they are used in tuned applications up to approx 400bhp and 420lbft of torque.
For applications up to 480bhp and 500lbft of torque the custom forged piston upgrade is recommended.
This 2.5 core accepts all the std 2.0 components such as oil/water pumps, sump, pulleys and cylinder heads.
Please note, this group buy is limited to 10 units for delivery in February and may not be repeatable at this price, when they’re gone they’re gone !
£100 deposit is required to secure each order, remainder payable in February prior to the unit being shipped overnight to you.
Can i please state if you have any questions to please ask me.

scoob_wrx1 18 January 2008, 23:40 hi there wats the total price all in with the vat and delivery,i think i would have the forged pistons and rods,my car is a 2001 wrx bugeye let me no thanks mark
fwdnutz 19 January 2008, 09:25 hi m8 i am sure Andy will explain shortly meanwhile BTTT!:thumb:
jasonius 19 January 2008, 21:03 Couple of q's..;)
The forged pistons, I take it that's it and not rods too..?:D
You say these will fit 2.0l heads, but do they 'match' the bore size, surely the 2.5 bore is bigger than the 2.0l combustion chamber..? Remember reading somewhere that this isn't an ideal scenario..?
Great price BTW..!:)
Carl Davey 19 January 2008, 21:39 Very interested. Which forged pistons?
Carl Davey 19 January 2008, 22:11 ...CP pistons. Better get the 205 advertised soon so i can pay for the engine. :D

Andygreer 20 January 2008, 20:16 Sorry for the delay guys, been doing up a old car with a mate.
Shipping to any UK address will be £19.00
The pistons used are CP Pistons.
CP Pistons - Products - Sport Compact (http://www.cppistons.com/products/sport_compact/)
Andy has used both CP and Wiseco pistons in his race car for a few years now with a zero failure rate and excellent results.
The questions asked above andy has answered
"I do not consider steel rods a necessity for anything under 480bhp and 7000 rpm on the latest spec 2.5 Sti engines. The only exception to this would be if the car was used regularly on track where the duration of operation at 7000 rpm and risk of a missed shift (overrev) is high.
My own 2.5 Spec C runs the latest spec Sti rods at 480bhp and 500lbft+ and is regularly thrashed ! 9000rpm spec steel rods can be supplied if required for £540"
"Regards matching cylinder head chambers to the larger bore, although not absolutely necessary, this is recommended for optimum results. I can supply details of what is required for a DIY operation or optionally it can be done here if required for £50/head."
There is further info on Andy Forests web page regarding the supporting parts recommended at certain power levels.
If you have any further questions, let me know

Ya but there to suit 2.5 heads and there off the shelf pistons with higher compression.
