Lets keep this forum tidy and keep all monte carlo stuff in this thread!
After SS1 Sainz was leading with Makkinen second. Burns went off the road, but managed to get back on. SS2 was cancelled due to too many stupid spectators!

Errrr this "Loeb Dude" almost rewrote WRC history by nearly claiming a victory on San Remo last year, but unfortunately had to settle for second behind Mr Panizzi.............It certainly looks like he's on a mission,or at least for Tarmac events;).

555:D

p.s I take it Tommi likes his new wheels:D:D:D Unlike "Burnsie the Defector":D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

555, my comment about Loeb was in no way meant to be degrading.

He is really made of the stuff champions are made off... i.e. a future world champion.

And if Loeb's performance in the Network Q last year is anything to go by, looks like his talent is not just restricted to the tarmac rallies.

Be interesting to see how the Xsara goes on a non-tarmac event.

All credit to Makinen - a new car and still manages a close second. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Burnsie still outside the points. Shame. Should have stuck with Subaru!!!

Burnsie must have been really p*ssed to leave such a competitive team.

If the captions are correct on C4, the Impreza that Makinen/
Solberg is driving is last years car as well.

SS12, Solberg and Makinen 1st and 2nd for the stage.

Nigel, that's what I also heard on an interview on wrc.com. The new car would be ready in March / April.

Hope the Impreza WRC2001 to WRC2002 doesn't go the same way as the Lancer Evo6 to Evo7 towards the end of last season.

I guess it could be clever tactics by Prodrive to start the season with a reliable car that they were also confident would be more than competitive enough to stay ahead of the other 2002 cars.

Get points on the board early and hope that the new car hits the ground will all four wheels spinning in the right direction.

Blimey,

Loeb gets a 2 minute penalty and drops to 2nd!!!!! don't normally see a 2 minute gap between the first two drivers and the rest of the field.

Yeah,

26 seconds faster that Makinen and Solberg. This boy knows how to take the pressure.
