View Full Version : Rafa - Dead man walking.
STi wanna Subaru 14 January 2008, 12:58 Seems the yanks have been looking for his replacement already. He's looked a man going mad of late with his chuntering on the sidelines as his team fail to perform. This news can only add to the pressure for him to go.

NAF 14 January 2008, 13:10 It does indeed look like his time is limited.
TimWRX01 14 January 2008, 13:24 Although I'm a United fan (so I enjoy the predicament Liverpool currently find themselves in) I still think that Benitez has been treated disgracefully.
He is easily one of the very best coaches in the Premier League.
The Americans are now in a situation where they have to come out and back him, with a transfer fund, or sack him.
STi wanna Subaru 14 January 2008, 13:26 I cant see how he can go on now. They've hung him out to dry. He looks foolish now. It's a disgraceful way to treat him I agree as he's brought success to the club just not the Prem which seems to be the crux of it all.
richie001 14 January 2008, 13:30 I knew his time was up when he fell out with the yank owners this is what happened with Jose Mourinho :notworthy and Roman Abramovich and there can only be one winner and it won't be rafa benitez.
STi wanna Subaru 14 January 2008, 13:34 Jose to Liverpool next season?
Funkii Munkii 14 January 2008, 14:12 Just Hicks being mischievous IMHO, no doubt they did meet with Jurgen and but I wonder if it really was "incase Beni went to Real" after Rafa had his bad mouthed the owners so publicly and childishly, they were none too pleased and this is their way of telling him publicly "Don't f*ck with us little man" we can have you replaced whenever we feel like it.

Would you have locked "that" thread if it had been about Everton or Man U ??
Yeah thought not :), abuse of power me thinks, it was a bit of fun and relevant so get over powers and your ****e club or should that be clube (rafa stylee ;))
Again just a bit of fun before you lock this and Ban me :lol1:
Funkii Munkii 14 January 2008, 14:16 Jose to Liverpool next season?
Nailed on Banker said it months ago :thumb: when it happens then we will fear Liverpool again, as previously expressed I hope they don't let Beni go, give him a 10 year contract.
Beni has taken them as far as he can, every season we hear, one more player, last piece of the jigsaw puzzle etc, but the football never improves, still insists on zonal marking for heavens sake :wonder:
Poor old Torres, such a waste of talent :(
richie001 14 January 2008, 14:31 Jose to Liverpool next season?
Not sure, why come back to England he won everything he can here and got nothing to proof the only reason would be to pi55 off Chelsea Fans and Roman Abramovich.I think Jose's next job is in Italy with Ac Milan or Juventus both big teams which need rebuilding to catch up with Inter Milan and that is going to be his challenge.

Yeah fair points but delivering the title to Liverpool would give him god like status to the Scousers whom he's had so much 'banter' with over the few years he was here. Then there is as you say the up yours to Roman... I think that would appeal to his ego.
richie001 14 January 2008, 16:06 No disrespect to merseyside/northwest but i can't see him living there he's use to living in London and i can't see him travelling back and forth.

And yes Liverpool are $hite at the mo and we are fighting for fourth :(
I have no problem admitting that
Anyway enough about that , can we keep this thread on topic please ? :)
pauld37 14 January 2008, 17:26 Jose to Liverpool next season?

What's wrong with the North West? He wouldn't have to live in Liverpool, there are some nice bits in the North you know.

jaytc2003 14 January 2008, 19:21 is jose really that good though? Chelsea didnt play attractive football under him and the backbone of the team was already there put in place by the tinkerman. Avram is doing a good job there, playing nice football now and not too far off the pace and that is with a few 1st teamers missing

Fook you then I wont apologise next time :p
chris1scouser 14 January 2008, 21:16 i've been a red all my life. i've seen managers come and go. in recent years we had Evans, he never spent much money and if my memory serves me correct we finished third twice and second twice. then we had Houllier who nearly died whilst being manager, he spent a few quid and we won some cups. He was pushed out the door. then along came Rafa who sold Cisse after never giving him a run in the team in his favourite position. spent alot of money on different players some good some awful, Kuyt, Voronin, Sissoko and Arbeloa who is not that bad but definately not a central defender. as for Kuyt and Voronin they couldn't hit a cow on the @rse with a banjo. Kuyt will never score while on the halfway line, would he start at the other "big three"? liverpool are now at risk of slipping out of the "big four" as for Voronin phew where do i start he's sh#t! and has anyone told him hairdos like that went out in about 1995. Sissoko started well and i was a fan but recently he usually gives the opponent his services more than his team mates. to conclude, in my opinion Rafa has peaked and is now heading into a trough so it should be cheerio. if any other liverpool fan slates me for this i have watched the last four draws againts easy knockouts and teams that we should be saying three points in the bank to. i tried to be brief, however it would be to easy for me to sit here all night and moan. goodnight.:thumb:

:wonder: He won the Champions League in his first season, was that his peak? and they have done well in it since. He's has been there 4 seasons?
Newcastle are being slated for getting rid of Allardyce so soon, atleast Rafa has been successful at Anfield, all be it, not winning the Premiership

isnt that were harry redknapp lives paul?
moneys 14 January 2008, 23:50 I think rafa's problem is that he doesnt understand the prem, in spain the la liga is in 3 different leagues if you ask me, you have the top teams who will beat the teams in the bottom 1/3 of the league no problem at all every time, then when the top teams play the middle 1/3 they will win 7 out of 10 times and usually walk away with at least a point.
rafa thinks the prem is like this and cannot understand why liverpool cant beat wigan or the likes even if they put out a weak team. if you ask me rafa is one of the best cup managers ive seen, also when the sh*t hits the fan and he needs to he seams to be able to raise the game in europe. one of the things that gets me though is that he talks boll0ks after games that we have obviously played crap in, dont bullsh*t us were lfc fans aint stupid, we've been there an done it countless times with bigger men than rafa.
vorinon is one of the worst players i have ever seen and i cant understand why he is sticking with him, what the feck has crouch done to not earn a starting place with torres. :brickwall
For me Jose is the best option as he knows what it takes to win the league, oh and one final thing, each an every year i expect lfc to win the league because i do think we have the team capable of it and also because as a fan its what i expect of my team also, no matter what anyone says, is a team that is expected to win it.:D
chris1scouser 15 January 2008, 00:02 i was airing a view. i think benitez will never win the p,ship. Sir Alex and Avram Grant with the exception of Wenger play there strongest team (injuries aside) nearly every game. Sir Alex may rest one key player in the lesser games. if it wasn't for Gerrard and Torres consistently bailing Benitez out we would be where in the p,ship? how many goals have Voronin and Kuyt scored in the league this season? he done the same with Morientes who just could not do it for Liverpool yet he kept on playing him with Cisse watching. in my view Benitez allows personal agendas with players make his managerial decisions which is unprofessional. you play the strongest team week in week out thats how you get results look what Sir Alex is doing, will he change five players for each league game? Crouch who i am not a fan of, is a better partner for Torres than Kuyt and Voronin put together. how many games does he play? do you really think that liverpool are more potent with either Voronin or Kuyt up front with Torres? bed time now, i'm off on a rant again. Sleep well. Chris.
moneys 15 January 2008, 00:07 i to could go on for hours about this issue, rafa does let personal matters get in the way which is very unproffesional indeed. if any of the other managers rotate there team they only change one or two players, the spine of the team is always the same. the turn over of players at liverpool is extremely worrying, its not the money im on about here its the simple fact of buying players and then shipping them back out a year later. who are the scouts?
ash1 15 January 2008, 00:22 seems to me these issues have been brewing for a while now, probably as far back as october last year when we dipped a little and looked like going out of the CL. I see a lot of blame for the manager, yeah he has to take his fair share, the owners need shipping out, they promised stadium and hard cash for players. they failed to deliver a new stadium (fk knows what revision we are on), not invested from their own pockets, failing to refinance the loan.
the biggest n0b in all this is rick parry, screwed evans by appointing houllier behind evans back, almost lost SG twice, switched horses at the last minute from the arabs (having shook on a deal) to the yanks. Its goes on and on, the man is truly incompetant.
I cant see why RBS would want to refinance the yanks (and therefore the club) given whats happened in the past 6 weeks. They tell Rafa to shut up and focus on the team, yet they're mouthing it off every other day.
