Hey up,

Has anyone converted their standard wrx bugeye headlights to the sti version?

I believe the wiring has to be changed or modified to allow this to work?

Any advice/info will be much appreciated!

Yes you need to change the wiring as the STI lights have seperate main and high beams whereas the WRX has a standard H4 combined high/main beam.

It's not too difficult if you use UK spec STI lights. However, if you use JDM spec lights with a HID the wiring becomes a little more complex. There is a guy in Canada (Wagon_Ho on here I think but I can send you a link to his site when I get home) who makes the looms so you can go back to standard afterwards, but I made my own (converted to HiD). Just to complicate matters I had to use Nissan ballasts as the subaru ones weren't supplied with my lights.

Also the wiring and the switch for the beam adjuster are completely different and I have not found a way of modifying yet. I will probably buy that part of the loom from the guy in Canada if my headlight alignment fails the MOT and I need the adjuster to sort it, otherwise I'm not overly bothered.

Looks much better IMHO

I got wiring harnesses from here.

Subaru Impreza Parts, Pics and Pricing (http://www.chaiofangimports.com/page9.html)

They make the job straightforward. If they are Non-HID ask for this harness;

Bugeye STi without HID, but enabling so the main beam and dipped beam
(both high and low beam) stay on together.

That's the guy in Canada I mentioned:thumb:

If they are the bulb will be different, it's quite obvious when you take them out, the connection is a bulky bayonet style connection to start with, and it has what I can only describe as an external element. Also you'll have the yellow warning sticker as seen on my second pic.
