rallycol 05 January 2008, 22:14 Keep it ,as you will get silly offers :(
fivetide 05 January 2008, 23:27 Realistically not a lot, probably no more than a grand/1500 possibly worth more to you than it is selling it.

Bravo2zero_sps 06 January 2008, 00:58 Well put it like this, my taxed and MOT'd (full 12 months) 2000 RRY blade with 27k on the clock with Titanium Akrapovic can included as well as extras like gear indicator etc recently was getting stupid offers of £1800 off of Pistonheads. I decided to keep it as its worth more than £2k to me.
As said above keep it and even tell Honda about its history as they should be using your bike to promote the longevity of their engineering!

If I was offered that then I would sell it
GROWLER_GRRRR 06 January 2008, 23:02 100k mile eh classic honda reliabilitie
not sure how much its worth with that milage as the engines can take the miles but the gearboxes loose 3rd gear some times yours might be ok but i would think it still should be worth 1k to someone .
the miles will scare most people might be a idea to get a power run on a dyno then add the dyno printout to the advert for peace of mind .
120bhp would be good , good luck with the sale fireblade thats the ticket .:thumb:
Jolly Green Monster 06 January 2008, 23:07 it has paid for itself really.. gearbox is fine.. I think the cam chain would be a wise change.. :)
it made 120bhp when dynojetted at 9k.. :)
would be interesting to see what it makes now..

you would be surprised to find that the power dont tail off that much just the gearbox issues , if its ok get that bad boy advertised and be ready for the tyre kickers ...... there out there.good luck n let us know what power if you get it on the a dyno .:thumb:
Jolly Green Monster 06 January 2008, 23:14 it hasn't been started for 3months.. I have oil and filter.. would do change before running it... probably need a new battery too.. sounds like I would be best doing that, mot and power run.. thing is by the time I have done that I would probably end up keeping it :)
Simon
[Davey] 07 January 2008, 09:56 it has paid for itself really..
In that case.. I'll take it off your hands :D
Jolly Green Monster 07 January 2008, 10:09 lol
Pudders69 07 January 2008, 13:04 keep it, can't honestly see too many peeps wanting to part with £1000-£1500 for it.
track it, its paid for, should go well enough, or just keep it as "A" bike, still looks good.

Bakerman 07 January 2008, 15:09 I recently got £1k for a 96k mile 2002 VFR VTEC.
Not washed in 5years but had fsh and was fine (apart from probably some stretched cam chains!).
Bravo2zero_sps 07 January 2008, 15:14 At what mileage did you guys do your valve clearances? My blade is on 27k and my garage is saying the valve clearances really should be done soon. All its had is the normal minor and full services up until now so no major adjustments like valve clearances which thery say is a few hundred pounds to do.
fivetide 07 January 2008, 17:02 Every 14k on my Kawasaki. Had them checked but never needed doing/replacing. Would get them checked if it were you!

Bravo2zero_sps 07 January 2008, 19:17 Yeah but that's a Kwak ;) My Kwak was a noisy rattly bloody thing and that was from brand new :o
I am going to get them done, just wondered what intervals the high mileage bikes had done them and what sort of price you paid for valve clearance re setting/adjusting?
GROWLER_GRRRR 07 January 2008, 21:44 its worth getting the top end checked dont think cos its quiet its ok
cos you can get tight ones , get your hand in your pocket lol it will be worth it in the long run .:thumb:
Jolly Green Monster 08 January 2008, 00:55 I haven't ridden it for a while and I think fun riding is gone from my want.. the last few years I have enjoyed riding it but with a purpose.. not just taking it out for a ride.. which shows from the mileage.. but those purposes have gone now really. . I carry too many spares when mapping to use it..
So my thinking was it would sit in the garage and do nothing.. or I could sell it..
but all this thinking and talking about it.. it is tempting to spend a bit on it and use it this year perhaps..
lol @ not washed it for 5years..
The top end is a little noisy.. it was checked regular when it was serviced by a local bike shop.. but when the mileage got high I serviced it myself and the clearances are due.. from memory they were checked three times by the shop and they only needed altering once and I think that was the first time they checked them.

Reef 08 January 2008, 08:38 I think you'll be lucky to get a grand for it which is a shame as there's a lot of bike for the money. I'd be tempted to strip it and sell the parts on Ebay. I would have it off you in a flash but it would cost me my marrage.:lol1:

The only time the valves were looked at was 64k, the schedule states 16k but the dealer thought that was way too early. My replacement VFR VTEC will be sticking to the same schedule i.e. oil/filter every 8k, clutch/brake fluid every 2years (which for me is say 35k) and valves every 64k plus any other consumables.
Bravo2zero_sps 08 January 2008, 10:00 Thanks. Never had them done on my gixer and that had done 42k before it got traded in to be shipped off to some auction.

As someone said 16k so not that much different ;)
My Kwak isn't rattly at all and is pushing 40k now as we do a big europe tour (3000 miles in a week) each year.
I guess i just like to know everything is as it should be. The oil etc i do myself but £200 every couple of years to know you actually have a bike that is mechanically sound is hardly a killer.

Bravo2zero_sps 08 January 2008, 11:12 It wouldn't be a ZZR by any chance would it? Think they were built considerably better than the ZX6-R, well certaily the J1 model which I had. At the time everyone said they were rattly and even the dealers wouldn't do anything about the noisy engine saying they were all like it from new! Great bike but a rattling engine was a real put off while riding it.
fivetide 08 January 2008, 12:09 ZX6R on a T plate. Had it years and never once had a problem with it. Can't find another bike with the same poke that is as comfy and as happy on the autobahn as the 'ring so never sold it. Brakes could be better but apart from that can't fault it.

Bravo2zero_sps 08 January 2008, 12:25 :o t plate must be a G1? The J1 I had had fantastic power for a 600 as well, was comfy and the brakes were the best i've had on any bike, even more powerful than what I had on my next bike after the J1, a 2003 R1. The 6 pots on the J1 were phenominal. I just think the build quality let them down as I actually took mine back to Kawasaki Head Office over in Oxfordshire for them to listen to the rattly engine I was that hacked off with it. They said unfortunately its caused by the way the engine is manufactured and everything was well within the fault tolerances. However they did find that one of my downpipes was completely shattered internally which 3 dealerships had failed to spot  but they replaced it on the spot.
fivetide 08 January 2008, 12:53 Might have got a dodgy one (or i've got a good one)
The brakes just don't seem as sharp as they could be (despite braided hoses, new discs, fluid pads etc) but they've never been thre strongest.
Not a fan of cold weather, last of the carb bikes so gets the icing problem although silkolene pro fst fixes that.
Build wise, the only area is the usual one to complain about, the wheels but beyond that nothing that you wouldn't expect on a bike that lives outside.
I do warm it up before jumping on it though, doesn't turn a wheel until it gets to 3 on the temp bar which has helped a lot i think.
Full micron job and dynojet so over 100bhp. If i do swap it then i think it will be for an E1 or E2 zx9r as the single headlight really isn't up to much!

Bravo2zero_sps 08 January 2008, 13:25 Very nice  Still miss mine for the long distance comfort and looks.
fivetide 08 January 2008, 13:35 Exactly! I'm 6' so not much chance of fitting on most sports bikes for the miles i do on this and i don't want a full on tourer just yet. That's why i've had it so long!

firstscoobdude 08 January 2008, 20:23 itll make a grand as a stunter or fighter all day long :thumb: .

My old mans 92 ZZR used to break down regularly.. And my old ZX750R sounded like a sewing machine but it went like stink! :lol1:
