I am trying to find a STI Type R too. I got a quote off direct lines website - www.directline.co.uk - I am 23, 3 years NCD, 3 points, based on a 1998 Type R, it came out to just under £1600.

Before directline the cheapest quote I had was from tesco, it was £2300!!! I thought directline seemed a bit cheep so I phoned them to double check the price & to make sure there wasn't going to be a lump put on top of the price when I come to buying it, they told me there would be no extra & the price was correct.

They do require a tracker though!

If you can afford it I believe Tesco/Direct line both offer decent discounts if you persuade them to up the xs to about £1000. Not saying I recommend this, but if you are prepared to take the risk you can probably get a decent discount...

Aeon Flux or Adrian Flux will give a good quote.

I was quoted £600 fully comp on a type R.
