RichieC 16 January 2002, 19:03 Shopping about of late and cheapest I was getting quoted was £1400 Fully Comp on a Pre97 WRX. On hearing that, I ruled it out as that wasnt even including my 6 points (1x SP30) ;)
Bearing in mind they wouldnt insure me on a UK car at all until I was 25 and insisted on a Tracker, I thought Id try trunkie:
23yo, 4 years NCB, incl 6 points (SP30, £200) + 24yo g/f ;)
1996 Impreza Turbo - £1243 FC
1993 Legacy Turbo - £870 FC
1993 Toyota Celica GT4 - £556 FC < wow
Now I know the quotes could go vastly up or down for a Jap spec car, but there is light at the end of the tunnel............its worth a try.

Jolly Green Monster 2 17 January 2002, 15:31 thats a good price..
I am still shopping around as renewal on MY96 UK Turbo is new month.. also 6points but 27.... currently Victora Liverpool (0800 607607) is the cheapest so far at £972... elephant were £1188...
PS: GT4 is a lovely car mate... for the price...
RichieC 17 January 2002, 16:51 Well this is the thing............I know how good a Scoob is but its a huge difference in both insurance and purchase price, I need to have a good long think and see if its worth that extra hit for a Subaru.

Rich
PS Seems weird I know but I would swear t was cheaper to have both of us on the poilicy than just me. Is that cos a lower risk driver will be sharing the driving, ie I wont be in it all the time? Bizarre
broom5 18 January 2002, 12:36 brother in law is looking at changing his car and ive tried tempting him into a scoob, but he said he'll never get insured, so i ran a quote through elephant to see what sort of premium he would have.
21yrs, no no claims, no points or claims, full security, 95 car
thought i was hard done by with my policy
quote: £6875.00 images/smilies/mad.gif
guess ill just have to keep taken him for a spin in mine :D

MARK MORRIS 18 January 2002, 17:21 i tried them for my p1
31 yr old plus 26 yr old wife, ive got 6 points(2 sp30) and an own fault accident which cost £800, they wanted £3600 or £4200 with protected 6 yrs no claims
mark
RichieC 18 January 2002, 20:00 Oh well, seems like it just me :P I will be using them when it comes to getting a quicker car.

Dogus 19 January 2002, 01:42 Elephant did it for me !
2001 P1, me 37 with 8 yrs NCB, SP30, London area, and GF insured for those trips back from the pub......£1030
PvG 19 January 2002, 12:20 Elephant also worked for me!!....
Honda Prelude 2.0l Sport 1999, me 25 with 1yNCB, 2x my fault accident... getting quotes of around 1600-2700 (that was with the company i was insured with an Escort!) until i went to 'phant. the first online quote was 1070. Went to sign for the car, got home, put the proper details of the car in, went to 850. Added my dad as a named driver, quote was 727. Added my mother... she cost me an extra £20!, so £747 fc, not bad!
RichieC 19 January 2002, 16:14 As bizarre as it seems, I think it made my quote cheaper to add a lower risk driver as a named driver on the quote, weird but maybe worth a try.

Eagle7 21 January 2002, 03:13 I am currently insured with elephant and it made my quote a lot cheaper to name a second driver. Bizarre it may be , but as its so easy to get a quote from them, i recommend you try it.
When ringing around I also had similar results from other insurers so I always ask for a quote without and then with to compare.
Scumbag 22 January 2002, 09:13 Yup...add the missus on - it will almost certainly bring the quote down (just dont tell her that she's on it !!!!!)
I tried adding the old man, I thought 69 years old, no claims or convictions for 20 years would bring it down even more - no chance, went up. They obviosuly dont trust pensioners with 280 bhp !!!
TBMeech 22 January 2002, 13:41 They wouldnt quote for me, 1999 STI-V, CAT1, Tracker, 27 (28 in may) 8y ncd, no points, no convictions (in the last 5 yrs anyways!!) no accidents
:(

CaptainBeakie 22 January 2002, 14:35 They quoted me £1157. London Lad 31, full no claims bonus, no convictions or accidents, MY00 (no mods), 6k per year, garaged. (Basically clean as you like).
That's £250 more than my renewal quote (currently with American Express).
I know who's not getting my money, and they can shove their trunk right up ....... (anti rant device enabled!!)
