Anyone ridin in the cold weather and with grit on the roads?
anyone with any experiences high sidein due to grit?

Really fancy goin for a blast but they keep plasterin the roads with grit and that got me thinking if you went out in this weather and come off due to the grit could you claim off the council?

Be interestin to see if anyone has tried

Not riding at the moment -- fair weather biker & proud of it :)

Doubt you'd be able to claim against the council if you dropped it on grit, it's a visible hazard so they would counter-argue that you should adjust your speed to suit.

Didn't realise there was anything special about the current weather...

Freezing fog was a bit icky on Friday night but that's about it.

Oh, Happy Christmas and God bless you, one and all :)

Always riding irrespective 80miles/day.
Coldest morrning last week was -7 in rural Oxon (every morning was sub zero and a couple of evenings were zero). OK you go a wee bit slower and never try to be a hero but would never cop out and spend half my day stuck in traffic. If you have the right gear then it aint so bad and trust me the bike doesn't care so just use it. As for cleaning it, it might get a rinse about April time but unlikely ............. why wash off all the grime that has coated the bike and protects it ?

The bike/tyres only let go when you are trying to hard or don't know how to use a throttle - it only goes as fast as you want it to after all.

The biggest issue is the first few miles on sub zero roads, cold tyres and slippy but as I said just go a bit slower until everything warms up.

And dont worry about ice, if you are going to fall off on it then you will regardless of what you can do about it !!

Took mine out this afternoon for a 20min run. Came back pitted, but atleast giving it a wash will give me something to do other than getting thrashed by my son on his new Wii......Assuming he gets one of course ;)

Normally out this time of year, ok can't throw it about to much but fine, infact to compensate for slightly less flat out action try overtaking, accelerating hard, just on the white lines.

wooo hwoo weeee hahah again again.

The roads by me have had a layer of grease on them since the beginning of November. When that's the case I take the Impreza every time. It becomes more fun whereas the bike becomes far less.

As previously said, just ride to the conditions. Couldn't give the bike up, can't stand having to sit in traffic with the other lemmings when I have the option to filter past :D

That said, that recent -7 morning we had did see me stop half way to work and hug the exhaust just to get some feeling back in my fingers :lol1:

-7 ahah iv got bar mits warm and dry lol look a bit odd but so what !

wind chill is a factor as well every 10mph is i deg less -

ie 0deg at stand still would = -10 at 100mph (just for example officer honestly)

no gloves keep your fingers warm bar mits are the way forward lol :luxhello:
