Right then where to begin.
Took my beloved scooby into Sub City at 9am Saturday to have some headers, an uppipe, a downpipe and a gearbox oil change. Nothing too hard for a "skilled" mechanic who is supposed to be used to working on these cars!
Picked the car up on Saturday night about 4.45pm. Whilst driving home I noticed that the exhaust seemed to exhaust was blowing from somewhere. When I got home 15 mins later I checked to try and see where the leak was but it was too dark by this time so I phoned Sub city and there was no reply, obviously closed for the night.
Anyway Drove the car on the Sunday to pick up my g/f and realised that the dump valve wasnt working so I pulled straight over into a lay-by. When I opened the bonnet I noticed that the D/V ( a HKS SSQV) was twisted round and pushed practically under the intercooler. It wasnt even bolted on to the bracket with the I/C. Once I had managed to pull the D/V from under the I/C I then had to unblock all the pipes which had been twisted so badly that it couldnt release the pressure like its supposed to!!
Didnt drive the car that much on the Sunday for obvious reasons but when I did it was only very lightly and not very hard, but by now the car was spluttering quite badly.
Come the monday night I went back to Sub City to tell them about the exhaust and he knew exactly where the exhaust was blowing from and said that he knew that it was blowing!!!! Did he not think it was important to tell me this????
Anyway said he couldnt do anything until the next day as it was too late to do anythin by the time I got there.
Didnt bother taking the car there the next day, instead I took it to a proper garage that only does exhausts and tyres. Well boy was I in for a MASSIVE shock.
Not only did they not tell me about the hole in the headers, but they also didnt tell me about all of the bolts that they had sheard off, namely 2 from the uppipe and then 1 that bolts the downpipe to the gearbox. Got everything bolted back together and started the car up thinking that everything would then be sorted, but oh boy was I wrong.. The car was still spluttering really badly!
Next door to the exhaust/tyre garage is a garage that repairs engines, they had a look at it and told me that since the D/V pipes were twisted and blocked then the boost pressure couldnt get released and consequently had been forced back into the engine and blown the f**king head gasket!!!!
So now im left with a car that was running spot on (only had its MOT the saturday before all this happened) to a car that is knackered and will cost nearly £2000 to repair.
What I need to know now is, how can I prove that the car was running fine before they touched it and is there anyway that I can get them to foot the bill for the repairs.
Cheers Marcus
P.S Yes I know I should have taken it to Scoobybits!!!!!
