Question New Laptop help please

I'm after a new laptop as my current one is about 86 years old. Now i've found the one I want, and I want it by Xmas (please Santa ). The problem is, I can't find it in stock ANYWHERE. Everyone says that their deliverys are overdue and can't guarantee that they'll be in by Xmas

I've had a look and i've found a slightly lesser spec model, which is £100 cheaper, and it seems like it's easier to get hold of.

Toshiba - Model comparison page

Obviously the higher spec/preferred one is the P200-1FZ and the one i'm now considering is the P200-1EE.

Now comparing the two there doesn't seem to be a huge difference, (hard drive and the processor). The question is, is there likely to be a big difference in the performance of the two, and am I worth waiting for the higher spec one and paying the extra for it? It's not going to be used for gaming or anything too taxing

slightly slower CPU, smaller disk

Have a look at this:

Much better machine for the money
Dell XPS M1710 laptop - Core 2 Duo 2GHz! - 2Gb RAM! on eBay, also, Laptops, Computing (end time 07-Dec-07 16:42:06 GMT)

The dell Truelife screens are amazing. Better graphics card too

Thanks for the response. The price of the Dell is plus vat + delivery, which puts it over my budget of £800 tops. Plus it doesn't have an HD DVD drive, which i'm after.

My mind is pretty much made up on one of the two systems in my original post. It's just a question of whether the more expensive one is worth the extra £100, and the wait, which is god knows how long.

The CPU decrease - you probably won't notice.

I wouldn't worry about the disk either, as you can buy an after market one which is quicker / bigger with the saving.
