Anyone else interested in replacing their import RE070's with the correct 235 section versions. Been running a thread in scooby general and it seems that for ultimate performance there's nothing close to the 70's :thumb:

Need an idea of numbers interested so I can talk to a couple of importers and convince them they should be bringing these in :D

I'm also going to make enquiries about the 18" version (as fitted to the RA-R)
as I'm contemplating a change of wheels.

You fella's really rate this tyre that much ? i found them great in the dry but lethal in the wet. They also seemed when over half worn to pick up every groove and undulation in the road giving the car a mind of it's on on and off the power.

ith good geometry - they are incredible, wet or dry just not great in cold but I have a spare set of tyres for that.

Never used them but thought i'd maybe give them a go depending on price. My Michelin Pilot Sport 2s seem hard to beat as an all year round tyre tho. Maybe i need a set of summer and winter rims ;)

Tony I have both PS2's and RE070's the ps2's are hard to beat for all round tire, ride comfort, wear and wet grip..... but if you want dry weather grip other than a specific track tire you wont find better than the RE070 IMHO. :thumb:


Not the best in the cold as mentioned above by Duncan and they do tram-line especially when they are near the wear limit ...........as mine are now will have to change back to the PS2's for the winter :cry:

I was glad to get shot of them i had one very nasty incident where the car picked up a groove in the road and the car veered across the road so violently that if anything had been coming the otherway i would have been in danger of hitting it. I went and changed them that afternoon. They were as mentioned pretty much at the end of their "servicable life" but in my view no tyre should effect the handling that adversely no matter what degree it is worn.

Has anyone else noticed how various car magazines rave about the handling of RE070 equipped cars but never mention the tyres:wonder:

I have them on a spare set of wheels - I dont plan to run them at all over this winter because I dont want to wear them out or pick up punctures.

I ran with them all through last winter and never an issue even though it was plenty cold and icey. I now have some RE040's iirc that are basically cr@p in all conditions that will see me through poodling around at th moment.

As for tramlining - you need your geometry sorted.

I was running prodrive settings at the time and since changing to the Toyo T1R i don't have a problem.

I have tried all the top brands F1 gd3 Toyo T1r and S pilot sport 2 and the RE070, F1's good all round wet and dry but the edges were lost very quickly and they looked knackered within weeks, Toyos both good wear but not as grippe as the F1's wet or dry, PS2's definitely worth the extra pennies IMHO fantastic all rounder grip wear and ride comfort, which leaves the RE070 phenomenal grip dry and wet. wear rate is good as well, surprisingly, except the sides scrub up and of course they look like slicks on the out side edge from the start, down side is the harsh side walls and the tram-lining but still my choice if I can get the 235 size.:thumb:

Not tried Pilot sport Cups yet or Toyo's 888's but these are really track tires for the road and I think reading other threads wont last very long.

Edit - virtually everyone agrees that these tyres are the best there is for dry weather & still amongst the best for wet weather. If you can get em, get em I say!
