View Full Version : Time for a change.
skyblueracer 04 December 2007, 21:49 Hi.
Just a question ,is it not about time that rally GB was moved ?
It's just the same stages every year and it's getting boaring
going to the same stages year after year. What do you think?
Chris Vince
carter x 04 December 2007, 21:59 They may change a few stages to mid wales but i don't think it will move location but then again every other event is the same, same stages year in year out.
one good thing is you get to know the stages ?
Steve_PPP 05 December 2007, 00:04 i'm hoping they'll run one day up in mid-wales at some point soon - a return to the hafren stages would be nice :)
F1 CJE UK 05 December 2007, 01:00 i would love to see a rally GB again across all of the UK back to the RAC days

carter x 05 December 2007, 19:14 motorsport news today said that the organisers want to be in the WRC for 2009 and be droped for 2010 (something to do with sponsorship).
If it is possible they will apply for a remote service in mid wales and may be run stages in Hafren.
so thing may change ?.
Steve_PPP 05 December 2007, 23:18 interesting..... at least it means that other people are thinking about the idea too :)
Wet Eric 11 December 2007, 21:38 i would love to see a rally GB again across all of the UK back to the RAC days
Not wishing to show my age but I remember the days when we had the tour of Ireland, the Welsh rally, the Scotish rally and the RAC, our event now is probably down to money or the lack of it.
Britain still has fantastic rally stages and with a little Government intervention the RAC rally could be restored.
Instead they choose to back the Olympics, in itself a great International event, however to date it is already 5 times over budget. I only wonder how much is infrastructual and how much is taken up with new Government sections administrating the Olympic event.
Greatnorth 13 December 2007, 00:03 but an olympic event appeals to a lot more peolple than rallying will, not in my eyes at all but in the rest of the crowds.
cant think of anything more boring than watch someone run round in a circle 10 times

How about a super special (where did that name come from?) at a WRC event or The Race of Champions or the live Thunderdrome at Autosport show:)

Gilesdwrc 13 December 2007, 22:46 i would love to see a rally GB again across all of the UK back to the RAC days
Then go to the RAC Roger Albert Clark (http://www.rogeralbertclarkrally.org/) and see all the old cars on all the old stages:thumb: .
The world rally will never go back to the old days, they need the same format in each country to make good TV.
However, surely they can shift things about a bit, base the rally in the north or Scotland (Grisedale, Keilder:thumb: :thumb: ).
This will never happen as long as you have a location dependant sponsor i.e. the Welsh government.
Wet Eric 14 December 2007, 19:34 Its great to have the Welsh Assmebly Government as a sponsor but not for one minute is this being financed by the Welsh Tax Payer, the source of this money is Europe, just badged up as Welsh Assmebly Government.
They have been awarded millions to attract industry back to Wales, apply for it and see how far you will get.
MICAWRX 16 December 2007, 21:03 Yorkshire!!! Its the future
Dalby, Cropton, Wykeham, Harwood Dale, Langdale
...and a run out to Keilder and the borders... Castle O'er, stunning stage!
Rally HQ?? Scarborough
Mickey Mouse?? Olivers Mount
Sponsor?? Yorkshire Tea
Speed Cameras?? Plenty
Sorted! Yorkshire Tea Rally GB 2010

not proper rallying though is it mate!
I've seen super specials at Turkey and Sweden and much prefered the forest setting for the real action.
Autosport is a laugh....should be a tesco car park on a friday night, wont even entertain ROC...waste of time :D
