View Full Version : Landrovers on WRGB....
rallymad_homer 03 December 2007, 17:07 Hi guys.
I co-drove one of the landrovers that the Armed Forces Rally Team run. Was just after a bit of feedback/comments on what everybody thought of us if you saw us on stage etc. Oh and also any pics would be greatly appreciated. (Car 202)
Thanks for all of your cheering and support over the weekend, it was a dream come true for us all. Hope we made you smile as we went past....
Thanks in advance,
James. (RMH)
Steve_PPP 03 December 2007, 18:23 I was surprised at the pace you lot were managing to keep up actually, when i saw the listings in the program i thought it would be a case of last normal entrant coming past, then wait 10 minutes for the Landies to appear :lol1:
Good job for getting them to the end :thumb:
Here's a couple of pics of you in Trawscoed 2 (about half a mile after the hairpin):

abc 03 December 2007, 18:42 Like the first pic especially, Steve: it shows just how big that hole was! (I was standing up the bank just out of shot.) At first I thought the camera had been tilted, then I noticed that the guy in the blue jacket is upright!
And in reply to RMH: great to see the Landies in action. Very entertaining but just a pity that they weren't running big V8s!

Always good to see the Landies running in the rally!
rallymad_homer 04 December 2007, 11:56 Cheers for the comments guys. Thanks alot for the pics, keep them coming.
abc: were not allowed to run anything other than standard military kit. The only things extra that were allowed are cages, extinguishers, anti roll bars and better shocks. other than that they are completely standard 2.5 turbo deisels.

That's interesting to know, especially about the shocks: looked like you were bouncing around a lot, so I can only imagine how sea sick standard shocks would have made you guys -- if they'd survived, that is!

Battenobbs 04 December 2007, 18:36 Thought you guys were great. Saw you on the Brechfa stage and you looked on the pace. Hope you enter again.

I was control officer for the Parc ferme Out controls at SA1 each day (amongst the other roles like Start etc). Have to say thank you to all the land rover crews for being thoroughly nice people to marshal for and for entertaining us all.
Glad you had a good one and maybe see you all back next year!

Scoobychick 05 December 2007, 11:46 James, you were very entertaining when we saw you on the Pirelli this year  :D :thumb:
I like the Landies, given the right spot they can be most entertaining and are often more fun to watch than some of the cars. It's also nice to see our armed forces boys and girls out doing something for fun rather than getting shot at it some distant foreign land :thumb: I was going to say it's nice to see our boys and girls out doing something less dangerous than getting shot at but I'm not sure that it is! ;) :D

Wet Eric 11 December 2007, 21:10 Not only did the drivers and co-drivers entertain and drove at a very competitive level their service crew certainly had their work cut out, when comparing a land rover to a purpose built wrc car there is nothing quick release.
Hats off to them all and in addition they raised money for 2 cancer charities, so when people run down our military I think they need to see what they do above and beyond what is asked of them.
Signing off Wet Eric ex RAF.
MICAWRX 16 December 2007, 20:46 Yes, very entertaining bunch... I will have spoken to you everyday homer!
