If you protect your no claims does it mean your insurance wont go up in the event of a claim?

I ask this because ive always protected my NCB since it got to 5 years, ive got a clean licence with no claims. My car is a wagon wrx with all the mods declared and i was paying 765 last year, i had a crash this year that was my fault and my insurance has jumped up £200.

I was under the impression that by protecting your no claims you could make 2 claims in 3 years without effecting your premium. The insurance man i was dealing with at the time said he never expected my insurance to go up due to it being protected, its getting towards the grand mark and i always said i would not pay that much as i just dont think a scooby is worth paying that much for.

what would scooby do

Nope it will go up as you have now got a history of claiming. Obviously it will not go up as much as you still get your NCB discount on renewal rather than losing that too.

It'll still go up even if it is protected, but it won't increase as much as if the NCB wasn't protected.
