Nikon D300 (http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d300.htm)

Rockwell seems to be very impressed, check the opening comments and shots.

Off to LA in a week, I wonder if there will be stock available?

There is no question the d300 will be an awesome bit of kit, however Ken Rockwell is hardly known for balanced and impartial views ;)

it's okay. i wouldn't give up my 1DIIn for it any day of the week.

ISO3200 is usable though - that's a bonus.

Sure, but you can't argue with the sample shots?

I'm getting one next week anyway :P

My Nikon D300 Makes Better Pictures than my other Nikons Because it has Bolder Colors. The D300's saturation control goes to +3, while every other previous Nikon digital has only gone to +1 or +2.

The man is an idiot!

Despite Ken Rockwell, the D300 looks like a great camera. :)

Indeed. For most situations you don't want to use the really vivid colour settings anyway. I use the D200 on "normal" as "vivid" and "more vivid" don't look at all natural. You can always boost colours in photoshop etc if required.

Yep, as above, my D200 is set to normal and no in camera sharpening either.

Very slowly getting to grips with RAW manipulation.

The D300 does look good though. I'm hoping the D400 might get the full frame sensor from the current D3 which would make it a great buy.

Shot a wedding the other week on my D200
I friend of mine came along as well with his D300
You want to see the difference in image quality!!!
Even @ 800iso the grain levels are superb on the d300
compared to the D200 (it was very low light)

The Colour contrast and everything seem to be so much of an improvement.

It's a really interesting comparison when you see the D200 and D300 raw files together in BridgeCS3 considering the shots are from the same job.
