Excess - low or high?
Anyone got any thoughts on excess?
currently have a £150 excess on accidental damage, renewal insurance would be £1103. If I bump the excess up to £350 my insurance drops by £85.
is it worth doing?

Up to you. How likely are you to need to pay it. If you've been driving for 10 years without a bump you would have saved 850 squid.
If you'd had that number of accidents needed to cover the difference you would'nt be able to insure a Metro!!
Boils down to how confidentyou are that you will not have a fault or 50/50 accident.

Greg,
Personally I'd go with the £350.00 excess...basically (apart from the last 12 months when the P1 took a fancy for a tree!!!) I have been claim free for years...
£350.00 isn't too bad if you have to pay it out...and afterall £85.00 is £85.00 isn't it

...
I wouldn't however go any higher than that...I used to have £1,000 excess on my 1st Scoob....and I was a nervous wreck for 12 months!!

I think Direct Line have a compulsory excess of £500 on a MY01 unless you get a quote on-line where you appear to be able to vary it form £150 upto £500??? Can't remember what the savings were though.

point i was saying is that I'd rather have protected NCD and a £350 excess than not protected and £150
Chances are you insurance will go up more than £200 if you loose 2 years + No claims!
