Daz,
I got something off the web for you at the weekend that could help you with the dvd multi region stuff you mentioned.Drop me a mail offline and I'll send it to you! (It's a zip file which you burn to a disk apparently!)
My mate's gonna chip my PS2 tomorrow so it'll be no swaps for me soon.....

Take it easy!

Sorry Rev,
These chips are for a couple of mates who have already paid for em!
Shame really cos I coulda made a fortune on these two if I wanted. For those in the know - Messiahs are as rare as rockin horse ****
CT is Channel Technology which are being threatened with legal action from Sony.Long story though as DazV and Scooby nutter will testify!

Cheers,

Nick..

Am I to assume from this that they are not currently selling them?

Wait until the 17th of Jan.

The courts will decide if Channel Tech are allowed to sell them

Just to correct Scooby nutter - The court case is actually on the 21st Jan and personally,I don't think it's looking good for Channel Tech. However, there are other companies that are selling 'clone' chips (Clones of the Messiah that is!)with names such as 'Elvis' or 'bootmaster' and they are 'readily' available if you know where to look........
Just to clarify - I am NOT selling any of my Messiahs (I've received several emails now asking if I wanna sell em) cos they are paid for by mates....... Sorry!

On another subject,I took my PS2 to my mates last night ready for chipping and we opened it up.With the aid of the installation diagrams I got off the web yesterday we looked at some of the solder points.Talk about bloody close together!!!!!
He told me he'll be using a 1mm (Yes a 1mm) solder tip.Hopefully,I should have it back by either tonight or tomorrow night

Bring it on.......

One other thing - Carl asks what the Messiah mod does.....
Well,It allows for direct boot of everything rather than having to use swap tricks that come with certain chips!

Hope this helps!

Carl Sager or Carl Bulger?????
Carl Bulgers website is http://www.btinternet.com/~carl.bulger/index.html#list

Incidentally guys - My Messiah is now installed and working. Thanks to the **** hot soldering skills of my mate Ken.If anyone does get one of these chips, then employ someone who is 'pretty handy' with a soldering iron.My machine took him three hours to complete. There's one chip on the mainboard that needs eight wires connecting to it and the legs of the chip are 1mm wide and the gaps are 1mm between each leg. Talk about difficult????
My machine now direct boots everything (NO SWAP TRICKS GUYS )

It was worth the wait believe me.Also, the chip (When fully wired!) has an RGB fix which stops the screen from going green when you play a DVD film through a scart connector. (Before anyone says anything, the S Video connectors work I know, but the qaulity ain't as good!!!!)

Cheers Nick.

Sounds like Messiah is the biz. Am contacting Carl about compatibility with his solution and my import PS2.

Ask your mate if he'll fit a GameSlayer for me (23wires) ?

Nice one Nick,
so the Messiah is true to its word on direct booting everything
I agree with the soldering skills required to fit one of these things,The Neo4 is even more difficult with 44 wires

Did your mate cut the DVD track to enable you to tape DVDs on your VCR?

If you require any"info,on cdrs and dvds etc" email me.

Duncan,
I'm not sure if he did this or not to be honest.I'm not too fussed though cos my video is in our bedroom and my PS2 is downstairs.I don't watch that many DVD movies anyway.........
From what I've heard,Neo 4's are EASIER to install than Messiahs even though there are more wires.I can recommend Messiah to anybody cos it DOES direct boot everything first time, everytime!!!
Send me an email mate cos your email addy ain't on your profile...

A message for Shaun the moderator - Did you get my emails that I sent to you a few weeks ago????? I sent you two mails in fact, one was asking about Messiahs (Cos you mentioned on a previous post that you could get em "...but at a price...") and the other about firmware for the Pioneer DVD writer.
I never received a reply which isn't the spirit of Scoobynet is it?

Hi Nick,
Yep thats what my local installer said. The neo has easier connections but has more wires, the M has less wires but some of the connections are so close together, its almost impossible to see them.
Went to see him last night and he was in the middle of a M install, the points look small on the web but in reality you can hardly see them. There is one chip where about 10 wires go to!!

Rather him than me.I can see a lot of ps2's being burnt out by DIY-ers

He also got his batch of m chips about a week ago,he thinks its because they phoned the CC company, which made Channel tech send the m's.

Firstly,My humble apologies to Shaun.I'm sorry about what I said. MY mistake mate,Sorry.... Doh,silly me!!!!!
On the subject of DVD writers - My Pioneer in my opinion was a bargain at £299 so you can't really refuse it at that price. (Especially since they were previously, and still are I think £499)
If 4x writers are coming out soon then I guess they'll be priced higher than what I paid for mine.I have also flashed my firmware to 1.65 and it now burns datasafe DVD-R's at 2 speed.Cool
On the subject of Neos and M's - A place in Warrington www.diskhouse.co.uk has Neo4's IN STOCK at £50 quid for the chip itself or £100 fitted.
They were also expecting some M chips on Saturday 19th Jan. (I was in the shop on Friday 18th!!!!)

Hope this helps you guys?

Cheers,

Nick..

Nick just emailed that link you mentioned. Thanks.

On another note, just had my first play on 007 Agent Under Fire and was quite impressed - think I'll obtain it sometime soon.

Also had a blast on DropShip which looked nice, if a little monotonous.

Might have to have a look at that James Bond game Daz!!!!
I saw the ad before xmas on the box and it does look pretty good...
I'm still playin Pro Evolution Soccer at the moment. The game has got to be one of the BEST football games that I've played on any platform even if the commentary is sh1te "Hello,My name is Chris James and you join us from the Lombardi Colleseum. With me is Terry Butcher......"
I think I'll stop there!!!!

Nick,

Speaking of which ISS 2 is about to come out - with better commentary and stuff but rmember ISS is done by a different team and isn't as good a game - more for NOVICES - PTHOLT are you listening?!?

Seriously though, tried Carl Bulger about the chips but he's reluctant to fit in a US machine at the momnet - reckons they;re not 100% compatible.

Will wait for those people you mentioned above to get back to me.

Daz,
Do you know the release date for ISS2???? Could be interested in that but Pro Evo is good cos even once you get the hang of it you simply can't thrash the computer every time.......... (Or I can't at least )
On the subject of chips,I have some urls on my home PC and if I get on the web tonight will post em for you.......

Cheers,

Nick..
