lunchtime will see Suzy, my g/f, joining slr land with a D300, 18-200VR and very shortly (for underwater), 105mm macro and something in the 10-15mm range too.
The under water housing is just under $6000

"taking a dive"
You were itching to write that, weren't you? :)
BTW, serious question - can one change lenses underwater? If so, how?

Cool... Love the bottom right pic... and also the crab-like creature with the mammoth pink eyes!
Will be interested to hear how she finds the D300 and see some of the images it produces.
Excellent :)

well, i've taken about 5 shots with it (18-200mmVR on the front)
I put it straight in manual; set aperture, shutter and iso and it does what it's supposed to.
i don't like the 18-200vr though. then again i don't like zooms and don't use much AF, so that's possibly the most irrelevant review ever lol
I'll report more when Suzy lets me play with it.
If anyone wants particular sample images taken or any raw files to play with, let me know.

$6000 for a water housing is quite expensive. Who is made by? Marine housing can be bought for about $3000.
Ewa marine make so great housings as does IKELITE Underwater Systems (http://www.ikelite.com)

"Marine housing can be bought for about $3000."
(at the moment) not for a D300 and not by Subal, the preferred make for u/w togs.

Fair comment Chef, Ikelite are expected to have one in December. How about
HUGYFOT announces Nikon D300 housing - digideep.com :: list of all underwater housings suitable for digital photography and videography... (http://www.digideep.com/english/info/html/hugyfot-announces-nikon-d300-housing)
Your girlie obviously knows her her stuff so I'll let her spend the money.

apart from anything else, she's put down a $1000 deposit already lol
the good thing about subal is that it's a solid make and common - if we're at sea, chances are someone will have a spare part (if needed)
