View Full Version : ACF-50 -- well impressed
brickboy 18 November 2007, 10:27 Got a can of this to protect the chrome on my old Suzi triple.
Cleaned the chrome then painted the ACF50 on with a brush.
First ride with it last weekend -- and ended up riding on a road that had been gritted 5 minutes earlier
But ... even though the bike got covered in salt, not a spot of rust appearing.
It's good stuff.

brickboy 18 November 2007, 12:17 Stay tuned for more in-depth analysis :)
But seriously, first sniff of salt and the rust spots pop up. Anything that stops that is good by me.

I sprayed it all over my bike last year and it worked a treat. Smoke everywhere when I first warmed her up though. Painting it on is certainly the way to do it.
_RIP_ 19 November 2007, 20:24 We did tell you this ;)

Warm the can up first (hot water), decant into a tin or whatever before hand, spray on a cloth and rub in for large areas, sit the bike on news papers, spray, brush and then warm up (repeat as necessary), all good tips :)

brickboy 23 December 2007, 14:06 An update, over 6 weeks after painting on the ACF and then getting the bike covered in salt on the first ride after application.
I've not washed the bike nor touched up the ACF since, and there's STILL no signs of rust. And this is on 30+ year old chrome which is already pitted in places on the rims, mudguards etc.
It seems it really does do what it says on the tin.
ODSSOCKS41 24 December 2007, 17:12 I use scott oiler stuff. cant remember what it called now its in a yellow spray can but that seems good stuff too. Anythin to stop rust got to be good in my eyes(not literally in my eyes!) You know what i mean :wonder:
[Davey] 30 December 2007, 12:50 Never heard of this stuff before, just read the details on the stuff and it sounds impressive! Normally I end up washing my bike after every ride when the weather is like this will have to give this stuff a try...
Wonder if its the same stuff they spray under cars on car-washes when you select 'anti-corrosion' treatment..
sv650 03 January 2008, 15:17 yup acf -50 is good stuff....if it is good enough for aircraft then it is good enough for my suzuki. painting it on as previously recommended is the way forward. it can spread out so be careful when near the brakes.
i use it at the start of winter and only fully wash it off when spring time comes...a good excuse not to clean the bike!
brickboy 24 April 2008, 17:28 Final update, just washed off the ACF last weekend after leaving it on all winter, didn't touch it up or remove the road salt that had crusted on. The bike got damp a couple of times but I didn't ride in rain.
It all came off really easily with a bit of degreaser, and not a spot of rust (even where the chrome is already pitted on the wheel rims etc). Final touch was a wipe over the clean chrome with a cloth dampened in the ACF, looks great.
Judging by the amount left in the can, if you brush it on there's enough for at least 5 or 6 full applications.
Me likee :)
