cant you just go to an alarm place let them look at it,if the alarm is a cat 1 wont they give you a certificate of something for the insurance company (for a small fee).....:)

usually any independant dealer for that brand alarm will be able to re-certify it for you,
there is a certification fee,
if the car was fitted with an alarm it should have a certificate?
bearing in mind this, cat 1 is an alarm and immob, and cat 2 is immobiliser only,
do you know what your insurance company are stipulating the car has as a minimum?
cat 2 being cheaper to install should it not meet thatcham criteria

Be careful as some Subaru's have Factory immobilisors but were not passed by Thatcham as they were not put throught the mill ( money ) as Thatcham do Charge
