View Full Version : Rally Ireland news **CONTAINS SPOILERS**
Steve_PPP 16 November 2007, 12:18 Just heard the news that Marcus Gronholm crashed heavily and is out of Rally Ireland :(
Hope its just precautionary and everything is ok. Not the way he'd want to end his career if he can't rally in Wales.

Distinguished Gentleman 16 November 2007, 12:35 Well done Steve PPP, that info will have spoilt it for a lot of people wanting to watch it tonight without knowing whats gone on today. It shouldn't have such a give-away title to the thread and should warn of a spoiler. Hey Ho
DG
Steve_PPP 16 November 2007, 12:40 Thanks for the smart reply :Whatever_
I deliberately didn't go into any other standings/positions but if one of the best rally drivers in the last decade is hospitalised i'd expect most people would consider it important news. Much more so than the result of a single rally.
Apologies to anyone if i've tarnished your enjoyment of the highlights program today.
blagman 16 November 2007, 13:15 Disapointing news hope they are both ok and hope they will be able to still start Rally Gb.
Scoobychick 16 November 2007, 13:24 Steve, I've edited your post title to take into account that there are many people on here who don't like to hear any news about the rally until they see it on TV.
There is a sticky at the top of the forum that requests that users don't put spoilers into thread titles for this very reason.
Thanks for your cooperation :)
Me? I follow it stage by stage and am gutted that Gronholm is out and sincerely hope that he's ok. Look like it'll be going down to the wire in Wales now.
Steve_PPP 16 November 2007, 13:33 fair enough, no worries :)
PeteInYork 16 November 2007, 13:35 Hi Sal !
Where are you following it stage by stage ? WRC+ or WRC Radio ?
WRC Radio Reporting Kris Meeke problems.
Anyone know any websites posting driver comments - there was some site for WRGB last year doing a Pattersons style newsletter.
Thanks
PeteD
Scoobychick 16 November 2007, 14:24 Just on WRC.com Pete. I listen to the radio a bit but it drives me nuts :D
PeteInYork 16 November 2007, 15:24 Hi Sal - have since found Pattersons site Rally News - The latest RallyNews On Line (http://www.rallynews.net) has their usual event newsletters and SWRT has some driver comments after morning stages.
Thanks
PeteD
Steve_PPP 16 November 2007, 15:30 Just had a look on the bbc sport pages again and they've updated the original info to say that Gronholms been released from hospital :)
Says he lost conciousness a couple of times after hitting a wall, sounds nasty....

that didn't take long to find its way online
doesn't look a particularly bad accident - just at an awkward angle.
Jonnip74 16 November 2007, 16:02 Courstesy of another forum!

A nice quote to sum it up...
"Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you, that's when it hurts." :lol1:

Butler205 16 November 2007, 17:22 Hope he can rejoin under super rally rules and slavage some points.
Or if Hirvinon can beat Loeb.
Would be nice to have a good fight in Wales.
macattac 17 November 2007, 00:02 The last i heard was there was some damage to the roll cage. So he won't be completing the rally.
fast bloke 17 November 2007, 11:50 Has Loeb gone off in stage 13? Just heard the leaderboard on the radio and it didn't mention him in the top 10. Missed the first bit......
edit -
hmm - rally ireland website has him in top spot - radio must be faulty
