I need a std size pre hung UPVC door for the garage. Have been to Selco, Wickes, Travis Perkins, B&Q, Screwfix and just cant get an outward opening one. If it opens in it dings the car!!! Any ideas guys?

Tried any of your local glazing firms?

I tried the chap who put windows in for me, but he wants £450 for a quality Rehau 'front door'. Selco do one for £160 and that's all I need - but it would bash the car!!! Trying to source online now as most places tried were closed and I need a trade place rather than domestic snakey salesmen types! Waste of a day :(

Isn`t there any way you could use a inward opening one and reverse hang it so it opens outwards.

Our patio is outward opening PVC: Reliant Windows did them (if your Midlands Based).

Although the hinges are external. Which I guess is the only way they can be made, so based on that why can't an internal one just be fitted backwards?

I have fitted the B+Q one (£140 ish) the "wrong" way around a few times and it's been fine.

God their site is hard to search! Description doesnt mention if its pre hung, has handles, sometimes doesnt disclose the size!

The only difference between an inward and outward opening upvc door is the drain holes. If you fit a inward opening door to open outwards any condensation or water ingress will drain out of the door and into your property. If its your garage then I don't suppose it will harm any as we are not talking a lot of water here.

Top answer:thumb: I now work for a window / door man and asked him about this and as above he says the same. You can take the door panel out silicon the drainage slots and redrill new ones so it drains outwards. So just turn a normal door around :thumb:

wel we mainly service and repair but a guess would be around 4 - 5 hundred for a cheapy which would do a garage
