Hey,
I have a large double garage door with a t handle lock, only lockable for the outside operating 2 horizontal bars the catch against the inside wall to stop it opening.

This is a problem cos if I lock it from the outside, I can't unlock it from the inside!!! To overcome this, I fitted 2 lockable floor bolts.

Last night I locked just one, and some scrote tried to get in bending the bolt cos they turned the unlocked handle and tried to get in. Arses.

I've sorted the immediate problem with a hammer and bending it straight, however I'd like to be able to lock and unlock the actual proper garage door lock from either inside or outside to stop this in future.

Any ideas what I'd need to do, or what type of locking mechanism I'd need??

I was supposed to be having a local firm out to do it, but they let me down.
thanks
Paul

The Hormann garage door we have can be locked with a key from outside and via a latch from the inside. It' a fairly standard looking mechanism, I would have though you could get something similar from a DIY store or maybe on ebay.

Screwfix used to do a locking T-handle.

Sorry didn't see this any earlier.

There is such an internal handle that fits onto a standard locking Tee handle which has a button on it that you press to unlock the lock from inside, it has holes made into the casting that you connect your existing lock rods to.

If you haven't sorted anything, give me a shout, I have quite a few ne ones laying around ;)
