Got a wall that previoulsy had damp, due to leaking balcony

However balcony roof is being repaired ( i patched it a while ago to stop the leaks) and now its time to remove the paper and patch repair the plaster and re-paper

Whats the best thing to put on the wall prior to papering over the previous damp areas

is it a bit of PVA mixed with the plaster, or PVA mixed with paint

Or something else :)

Cheers

If you need to replaster PVA the wall first 50-50 water PVA, then when the plaster is dry PVA all the wall to be painted new and old dont mix it in the paint.

I'd take off the damaged plaster. Mix 1 part SBR (PVA will break down over time) and 1 part water and apply to the damaged area, allow to dry and re-plaster. If the leak has stopped and no damp is present then this will more than suffice.

the leak has stopped, and the whole wall needs re-plastering anyway, now the paper is off it looks a right mess, god knows what the previous owners did prior to decorating

There is no more damp present now thankfully

if it will be new plaster with no damp on it, you can decorate it like normal.

If the eak has been fixed but a slight damp damp still is there, you can paint the surface with GLUTENGLASS
