Does anyone know roughly what year cavities became compulsory in the UK and what year filled cavities came in for residential homes. I can't seem to find this info on the building regs website.

Cavities are not compulsory. You need to meet the relevant thermal performance and this can be achieved with cavities, solid blockwork and internal lining, or external sheathing etc. many ways to achieve it.
