My engine check light doesn't work so I've had to do some exploration:

It turns out that, whilst most of the lights on the dash are bulbs, the six warning lights at the bottom of the rev counter are LEDs. See here (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/sicker.than.sickle.cell.anemia/images/wrx_dash_circuit.jpg).

As you can see, my engine check light's melted (or something) so looks like a trip to Maplin's in order.

By the sound of the posts I searched through earlier, UK models are different and use bulbs.

I would imagine the uk version share the same led's. But maplins would be my first point of call.

Out of interest does your speedo cluster have the copper ribbon type circuit at the back.
As I have recently purchased a 98sti speedo cluster to help resolve a fault. However the current 98sti speedo thats fitted to my car has the copper ribbon type circuit & the one I have just bought is different from the back.

I was hoping to swap the speedo across.

I dunno. I'm gonna fix it tomorrow so I'll have another look then. It's a pain in the arse setting the speedo/rev counter needles back correctly - turns out I didn't need to take them off in the end anyway.
