basically my car seats (especially the drivers one) are dirty anf grubby. not o.t.t. but ive not cleaned them since getting the scoob last december.

so was down halfords earlier getting couple bits for a wash tomorrow. saw this autoglym stuff, called "hi-foam interior shampoo". picked some up and it says the following on the back...

now i guess its probably not gonna get all the gunk and muck out from my work pants and other peoples sitting on the seats etc. but my question is...

it says on the instructions to wipe off with a damp cloth. could i use a soft brush to aggitate the foam into the seats (standard my99 cloth) and door cards before wiping off?

ive never ever cleaned car seats before and want to give this stuff a go. im anal about the exterior more, so im trying to keep it simple on the interior. basically the seats are darkening where theyre getting dirtier.

Yep, a little light brush agitation works well on most fabrics when shampooing; we tend to use a Meguiars Interior Brush for this type of task. When working without a wet n dry hoover, try to avoid overwetting the fabric, as it will take ages to dry at this time of year anyway, and if you overwet it you risk mildew setting in, which is very BAD!

so my following method should be...

quick hoover of the seats and door cards
spray the seats in sections
wait a few seconds 15-20
aggitate with soft interior brush
wipe off with said damp cloth


or is there more too it?

No, that's it, just try to press dry the fabrics as much as possible with a rack of spare dry towels after the shampooing is done - the more moisture you can soak up the better. :thumb:

bit silly of me i know, but i just sprayed some on my wooden coffee table, and wiped it off afterwards. its quite dry actually, and really foamy. reminds me of like a mr whippy ice cream. but very dry compared wo what i was expecting...:wonder:

That's a good thing; a lot of the shampoo's we use are thinner and wetter, but in your case thick and drier is better and will help you to avoid any overwetting. :)

thanks for that, cleared it up. if i get chance tomorrow, il try a couple before and after pics, whether or not they will show up any different, thats the fun part i guess.

as long as there isnt any after smell of soap etc.
