Hi guy's can anyone tell me the tell tail signs if the head gasket is gone or is going?

 

i think the most common is the overheating, loss of power, misfiring and a brown sludge in the header where the oil has mixed with water or the loss of water with no obvious leeks

 

got the overheating, rad is only worm on the one side, bottem hose is cold no mixing of oil and water in either the oil or water. Also when the car is ticking over can smell exhaust fumes coming out of the header tank!!! (strange)

so think i will be looking for a new engine maybe an sti one all ready had the go ahead off the misses, also looking for a very cheap run around while the work is getting done.
