View Full Version : Which weekend is best for the bike show... Edcase 12 October 2007, 09:46 ... in terms of clothing bargains and avoiding big crowds? CupraDave 12 October 2007, 10:11 I work at the bike show every year and in my opinion, the first weekend is the best for slightly smaller crowds (and girls ;) ) but if you are prepared to barter then the the last weekend is best for the bargains as the traders will have less stock to take away with them :thumb: Edcase 12 October 2007, 11:31 But I guess there is also a risk that they may have sold out of certain items and sizes by the second weekend? Sbradley 12 October 2007, 13:40 If the stuff's that popular, keenly priced and good then they'll have sold out by the end of the trade days - there's professional vultures there at that point (press) who can smell a bargain at 12 miles... If you can possibly do it try to go during the week instead. It's far less crowded, you can see things without having to swat irritating kids out the way and the folk on the stand will have the time and energy to chat. Plus the girls are friendlier :) Hey - how about we organise a mini SN biker's meet there? I'll see if I can jack up some hospitality somewhere (unless CupraDave is better placed to do that?) SB Bald Speed Racing 12 October 2007, 14:02 I work at the bike show every year and in my opinion, the first weekend is the best for slightly smaller crowds (and girls ;) ) but if you are prepared to barter then the the last weekend is best for the bargains as the traders will have less stock to take away with them :thumb: I work at the bike show every year as well and the first weekend seems to be quieter.....but the whole show was dead last year imo. Who do you work for Dave? GROWLER_GRRRR 13 October 2007, 00:43 count me in for a meet up with you lot . mid week sounds good beat the masses eh !:luxhello: ed_the_duck 14 October 2007, 17:32 G'day Ed! How the devil are you? GROWLER_GRRRR 14 October 2007, 17:36 ow a hoy pa loy ...... any one for tennis CHIN CHIN a what !:lol1: CupraDave 15 October 2007, 16:06 sorry for the delay guys, forgot to subscribe and forgot about the thread I work for Duke Video Personally I feel the bike show has gone down hill in attendance and show quality every year for the last few years. I think the organisers have finally seen what all the exhibitors and traders have been saying all along, and this is why they have changed the halls the show is in and changed the whole layout of the show meaning the punters have to walk past the traders to get to the manufacturers stands instead of the manufacturers all bein in one hall and the traders in another thus the traders not seeing half the crowds. As for changing the dates of the show, I am unsure why that has happened, but from a Duke perspective it is kinda a good thing as it gives us extra time to complete the WSBK and MotoGP reviews so we can launch them at the NEC show but it has now clashed with the Belfast bike show (if it goes ahead this year) meaning I cant go to Belfast for my Xmas shopping :( LOL SB, who do you work for? What sort of hospitality did you have in mind? dependant on numbers, time of day, day in the week and things like that I have a few friends I could ask for a few favours from ;) Bald Speed Racing 15 October 2007, 17:20 Im with you their Dave, this will be my 5 show and every year they seem to get quieter and more room between the stands which makes running to the ol bogs better but its room that should be taken by traders, some traders cant be arsed due to the figures dropping mainly due to how pap the show has been and I guess due to the silly prices. Its not a cheap show/day for punters or for us traders after all!. As for the show being later I dunno, I know the last few shows have been brought foward due to other bike shows going on mainly in Europe where the stands are needed elsewhere. Sbradley 16 October 2007, 10:17 Hi Dave, MotorbikesToday - biggest independent online bike mag in Europe - but I was going to see if I could persuade a manufacturer to invite half a dozen or so of us in for lunch. But if you're better placed to do that then :D SB CupraDave 16 October 2007, 10:56 :D not sure about being better placed LOL YHPM mate ;) Edcase 16 October 2007, 11:36 Si...persuade Ducati pleeeeeeeeeeeeez! ;) 7 Foot 16 October 2007, 22:18 I'm planning on heading up again. CupraDave 18 October 2007, 08:30 22nd November to the 2nd December :thumb: 22nd and 23rd November are trade and press days Bald Speed Racing 18 October 2007, 12:02 Is there two trade and press days? I thought we only normally have one there? CupraDave 18 October 2007, 12:26 the 23rd is like a preview day really, gives the organisers an excuse to charge even more money for you to get in. the first open public day is Saturday 24th November Bald Speed Racing 18 October 2007, 15:18 Im getting confused lol, I love the press day loads more better woman instead of the usual pap and you get to see and chat with of the riders walking/hobbling around. Also good to get closer to the bikes for pics and also the odd sit on them 7 Foot 18 October 2007, 20:46 I will be driving up rather than riding as I will be buying gear, Si/Max might be able to give you a lift and share the costs...
