I know this is prob a stupid question, but this is all a first for me, and would rather ask and do it right first time than do it wrong and have it look cack!

Need to paint some internal doors that are already glossed,

How much do they need to be rubbed down and what grade/type of method/paper to use please.

Any other tips would be great.

If you ask me the best thing is to take the door off the hinges and try and get hold of a blet sander with a 120 or less grit ie 140 160.sand it all down watching you dont take to much off and watching for beads that may be raised.if its gloss thats goin on,apply primer, then 2 coats of undercoat before coating with gloss for final finish.to finish the door off,buy new hinges that will fitt the oringnal check or bigger and nice new handles.anymore advice give me a shout.

belt sander!!! lol

get some 120 wet'n'dry sand paper, wash the door down with some warm water with either flash in it or a spot of fairy liquid, this will get rid of any grease off ppls fingers.. gently sand the surface down with the soapy water, as this acts as a lubricant for the wet/n/dry sand paper.
when you've given it a god rub down, rinse any sediment off with clean water.

under coat the door with either..
acrylic under coat/primer
or
oil base under coat

then you can gloss the door once the under coat is dry.

If you want an eggshell finish.
the 1st coat is eaggshell, then the finish coat is eggshell (its self undercoating).
